The Slowing Earth The Earth's rate of rotation is constantly decreasing, causing the day to increase in duration. In the year 20

06 the Earth took about 0.840 s longer to complete 365 revolutions than it did in the year 1906.
Required:
What was the average angular acceleration of the earth during this time?

Answer:

The average angular acceleration of the Earth is; α  = 6.152 X 10⁻²⁰ rad/s²

Explanation:

We are given;

The period of 365 revolutions of Earth in 2006, T₁ = 365 days, 0.840 sec

Converting to seconds, we have;

T₁ = (365 × 24 × 60 × 60) + 0.84

T₁ = (3.1536 x 10⁷) + 0.840

T₁ = 31536000.84 s

Now, the period of 365 rotation of Earth in 2006 is; T₀ = 365 days

Converting to seconds, we have;

T₀ = 31536000 s

Hence, time period of one rotation in the year 2006 is;

Tₐ = 31536000.84/365

Tₐ = 86400.0023 s

The time period of rotation is given by the formula;

Tₐ = 2π/ωₐ

Making ωₐ the subject;

ωₐ = 2π/Tₐ

Plugging in the relevant values;

ωₐ = 2π/ 365.046306

ωₐ = 7.272205023 x 10⁻⁵ rad/s

Therefore, the time period of one rotation in the year 1906 is;

Tₓ = 31536000/365

Tₓ = 86400 s

Time period of rotation,

Tₓ = 2π /ωₓ

ωₓ = 2π / T

Plugging in the relevant values;

ωₓ = 2π/86400

ωₓ = 7.272205217  x 10⁻⁵ rad/s

The average angular acceleration is given by;

α  = (ωₓ -   ωₐ) /  T₁

α = ((7.272205217  × 10⁻⁵) - (7.272205023 × 10⁻⁵)) / 31536000.84

 α  = 6.152 X 10⁻²⁰ rad/s²

Thus, the average angular acceleration of the Earth is; α  = 6.152 X 10⁻²⁰ rad/s²

If a light is moved twice (2x) as far from a surface, the area the light covers is ___ as big.
Ksenya-84 [330]

Answer:

twice

Explanation:

From magnification = height of image / height of object

Distance of image/ distance of object = magnification

If the distance and height of the object represents the initial light distance and the exposed surface respectively.

And similarly the distance and height of the image represents the final light distance and the exposed surface respectively.

Hence the new image exposure would be twice as large.

If we use the formula our point of investigation is Height of image,

H2= D2/D1× H1

H2 = 2D2/D1 × H1

H2 = 2H1

A mechanic turns a wrench using a force of 27.00 N at a distance of 16.00 cm from the rotation axis. The force is perpendicular
lutik1710 [3]

Answer:4.32Nm

Explanation:

The magnitude of the torque will be the product of the force and its perpendicular distance from the force.

Force = 27N

Perpendicular distance = 16cm = 0.16m

Torque = 27×0.16

Torque = 4.32Nm

a current of 250 amps is flowing through a copper wire with resistance of 2.09 x 10^4 ohms. what is the voltage
Dima020 [189]

V = I · R

Voltage = (current) · (Resistance)

Voltage = (250 A) · (2.09 x 10⁴)

Voltage = 5,225,000 volts .

I may be out of line here, but I'm pretty sure
that the resistance is 2.09 x 10⁻⁴ .
Then

Voltage = 0.05225 volt (not 5 million and something)

An electron is projected vertically upward with a speed of 1.70 ✕ 106 m/s into a uniform magnetic field of 0.320 t that is direc
Serggg [28]
The electron's path in the magnetic field is a straight line when viewed from above.

In fact, the electron initially moves upward, while the magnetic field is directed horizontally. The electron experiences a force due to the magnetic field (the Lorentz force), whose direction is given by the right-hand rule:
- index finger --> initial direction of the electron (upward)
- middle finger --> direction of the magnetic field (horizontally, away from the observer)
- opposite direction to the thumb* --> direction of the force (horizontally, but perpendicular to the magnetic field, to the right)

This means that the Lorentz force makes the electron moving perpendicular to the magnetic field in the horizontal plane, and since the direction of the field is not changing, this force does not change its direction, so the electron moves in the same direction of the force in the horizontal plane (to the right), therefore following a straight line.

* the direction should be reversed because the charge is negative.

Given data

Distance d=2.5 nm=2,5×10⁻⁹m

Mass of proton m=1.6×10⁻²⁷kg

charge of proton q=1.6×10⁻¹⁹C

To find

acceleration a

Solution

Apply the Coulombs Law

F=k\frac{q_{1}q_{2}  }{r^{2} }

Where k is coulombs constant (k=9×10⁹Nm²/C²)

q=q₁=q₂

r=d

So

F=k\frac{|q^{2} |}{d^{2} }\\ as \\F=ma\\ma=k\frac{|q^{2} |}{d^{2} }\\a=\frac{k}{m} \frac{|q^{2} |}{d^{2} }\\a=\frac{(9*10^{9} )*(1.6*10^{-19} )^{2} }{(1.6*10^{-27} )*(2.5*10^{-9} )^{2} }\\ a=2.304*10^{16}m/s^{2}
