Answer:

M. A change that causes the gene to increase the amount of lactase ir produces will increase a person's ability to break down lactose

Explanation:

Lactose is a sugar found in dairy products. Humans require an enzyme, called lactase, to break down the sugar in the body. This enzyme is produced by the lactase gene.

Some people have some variation in their gene that means they do not produce very much lactase. This means they do not produce sufficient amount of the enzyme to break down the sugar lactose found in milk. This causes them to feel ill and get abdominal pain when they eat dairy, because their body can't break down the sugar.

Therefore, a change in the gene that causes it to produce more lactase will make people more able to consume lactase. A change that decreases the amount of lactase enzyme will have the opposite effect.

The source of protein and minerals found in dairy are not processed by lactase, so R is not correct.

Janet pushes a cart, the cart with a net force of 60N. The mass of the cart was 48 kg. Calculate the carts acceleration
jeka57 [31]

Answer:

a = 1.25m/s^2

Explanation:

Force = mass x acceleration

Given mass M = 48kg and

Force F = 60N

60 = 48 x a

Divide both sides by 48

60/48 = 48 x a/48

1.25 = a

a = 1.25m/s^2

In August 2011, the Juno spacecraft was launched from Earth with the mission of orbiting Jupiter in 2016. The closest distance b
Vikentia [17]

(a) 8927 mi/h

In order to calculate the average speed, we need to convert the time (t=5.0 y) into hours first. In 1 year, we have 365 days, each day consisting of 24 hours, so the time taken is:

t=(5.0 y)(365 d/y)(24 h/d)=43,800 h

The distance covered by the spacecraft is

d=391 mil. mi = 391\cdot 10^6 mi

Therefore, the average speed is just the ratio between the distance covered and the time taken:

v=\frac{d}{t}=\frac{391\cdot 10^6 mi}{43,800 h}=8,927 mi/h

(b) 35 minutes (2097 seconds)

The transmitted signals (which is a radio wave, which is an electromagnetic wave) travels back to the Earth at the speed of light:

c=3.0\cdot 10^8 m/s

Since 1 miles = 1609 metres, the distance covered  by the signal is

d=391\cdot 10^6 mi \cdot (1609 m/mi)=6.29\cdot 10^{11} m

So, the time taken by the signal will be

t=\frac{d}{v}=\frac{6.29\cdot 10^{11} m}{3.0\cdot 10^8 m/s}=2097 s

And since 1 minute = 60 sec, the time taken is

t=2097 s \cdot \frac{1}{60 s/min}\sim 35 min

Vera_Pavlovna [14]

Answer:

The radius of the gold nucleus is 7.1x10⁻¹⁵m

Explanation:

The nearest distance is:

r=\frac{kze^{2} }{mpV^{2} } (eq. 1)

Where

z = atomic number of gold = 79

e = electron charge = 1.6x10⁻¹⁹C

k = electrostatic constant = 9x10⁹Nm²C²

energy of the particle = 32 MeV = 5.12x10⁻¹²J

At the potential energy is zero, all the energy will be kinetic energy:

E_{k} =\frac{1}{2} m V^{2}

Where

m = 4 mp = mass of proton

5.12x10^{-12} =\frac{1}{2} *4*m_{p}* V^{2} \\m_{p}* V^{2} = 2.56x10^{-12}

Replacing in equation 1

r=\frac{9x10^{9}*79*(1.6x10^{-19})^{2}   }{2.56x10^{-12} } =7.1x10^{-15} m

A traveling electromagnetic wave in a vacuum has an electric field amplitude of 98.9 V/m . Calculate the intensity ???? of this
Pani-rosa [81]

Answer:

intensity = 12.98 W/m^2

Energy = 3.93 J

Explanation:

As we know that the magnitude of electric field intensity is given as

E = 98.9 V/m

now we know that intensity of the wave is given as the product of energy density and speed of the wave

intensity = \frac{1}{2}\epsilon_0 E^2 c

intensity = \frac{1}{2}(8.85 \times 10^{-12})(98.9)^2(3\times 10^8)

intensity = 12.98 W/m^2

so intensity is the energy flow per unit area per unit of time

so the energy that flows through the area of 0.0259 m^2 in 11.7 s is given as

Energy = Area \times time \times intensity

Energy = 0.0259(11.7)(12.98)

Energy = 3.93 J
