Analysis of an accident scene indicates a car was traveling at a velocity of 70.0 mph (31.3 m/s) along the positive x-axis at th

e instant the brakes were applied and then traveled a distance of 115 m before hitting an obstacle at a velocity of 4.65 m/s. Determine the car's acceleration a (assumed constant) and the time t between applying the brakes and hitting the obstacle. (Assume the car is moving in the positive direction. Indicate the direction with the sign of your answer.)

Answer:

The acceleration of the car is -4.166 m/s²

The time between applying the brakes and hitting the obstacle is 6.4 s

Explanation:

Given;

initial velocity of the car when the brake was applied, u = 31.3 m/s

final velocity of the car after hitting an obstacle, v = 4.65 m/s

distance traveled before stopping, s = 115 m

The acceleration of the car is given by;

v² = u² + 2as

2as = v² - u²

a = (v² - u²) / 2s

a = (4.65² - 31.3²) / (2 x 115)

a = -4.166 m/s²

The time between applying the brakes and hitting the obstacle;

v = u + at

at = v - u

t = (v - u) / a

t = (4.65 - 31.3) / -4.166

t = 6.4 s

Which of the following is not a part of the modern theory of evolution?
telo118 [61]

Answer:

D

Explanation:

D) Evolution proceeds in the direction desired by members of a generation is not the modern theory of evolution.

Evolution can not proceed in the direction as desire by the members of the generation as No matter how hard you and your friends wish that your children will be born with the ability to fly unassisted, the kids will have to use airlines like the rest of us. All the rest of these contribute to evolution

Assume a solar cell would produce a current of 500mA and 3 V. What is the power of this solar cell?
defon

Answer:

the power of the solar cell is 1.5 watts

Explanation:

Recall that power is defined as the product of the voltage (V) times the running current (I): Power = V * I.

The only thing we have to take care of before actually performing the operation, is to convert milliamps into Amps, so our answer comes directly in the appropriate units (Watts). 500 mAmps can be written as 0.5 Amps, then, the product becomes:

Power = V * I = 3 V * 0.5 Amps = 1.5 watts

A hiker climbs a mountain. Starting at the base of the mountain, he first moved up 520m at a 32.0 degree angle. What is the fina
balu736 [363]

Answer:

\displaystyle \vec{d}=

Explanation:

Displacement Vector

Suppose an object is located at a position

\displaystyle P_1(x_1,y_1)

and then moves at another position at

\displaystyle P_2(x_2,y_2)

The displacement vector is directed from the first to the second position and can be found as

\displaystyle \vec{d}=

If the position is given as magnitude-angle data ( z , α), we can compute its rectangular components as

\displaystyle x=z\ cos\alpha

\displaystyle y=z\ sin\alpha

The question describes the situation where the initial point is the base of the mountain, where both components are zero

\displaystyle P_1(0,0)

The final point is given as a 520 m distance and a 32-degree angle, so

\displaystyle x_2=520\ cos32^o= 440.99\ m

\displaystyle y_2=520\ sin32^o=275.6\ m

The displacement is

\displaystyle \vec{d}=

What is the weight of a 48 kg girl on Earth? Rounded to the nearest whole number
Levart [38]

Answer:

471 N

Explanation:

Weight is just another word for the force of gravity.

Weight is a force that acts at all times on all objects near Earth. The Earth pulls on all objects with a force of gravity downward toward the center of the Earth (g-9.81 m/s2)

so we can simply say

weight =mass * gravitaitonal acceleraition

           = 48 * 9.81

            =470.88 N

            = 471 N

Which of the following best describes the term thermal energy? Choose one: A. The energy of an object in motion due to its mass
o-na [289]

Answer:

The correct option is (d).

Explanation:

  • The energy a particle has because of its charge and its position relative to another particle is called thermal energy.
  • It is the energy that comes from heat. This is generated by the movement of the particles in an object.
  • Thermal energy is the energy an object or system has due to the movement of particles within.

Hence, the correct option is (d).
