If the force on the tympanic membrane (eardrum) increases by about 1.50 above the force from atmospheric pressure, the membrane

can be damaged.When you go scuba diving in the ocean, below what depth could damage to your eardrum start to occur? The eardrum is typically 8.20 in diameter. Take the density of seawater to be equal1.03*10^3 kg/m^3.

Answer:

Depth will be 15 m

Explanation:

We have given pressure is 1.5 times of atmospheric pressure

We know that atmospheric pressure is 1.01\times 10^5Pa

So pressure will be P=1.5\times 1.01\times 10^5=1.515\times 10^5Pa

Density of sea water \rho =1.03\times 10^3kg/m^3

We have to find the depth of sea that is height h

We know that pressure is given by

P=h\rho g

So 1.515\times 10^5=h\times 1.03\times 10^3\times 9.8

h = 15 m

So depth will be 15 m

Answer:

15 m

Explanation:

Pressure = 1.5 times atmospheric pressure

Atmospheric pressure = 1.01 x 10^5 Pa

So, Pressure, P = 1.5 x 1.01 x 10^5 = 1.515 x 10^5 Pa

Diameter = 8.2 mm

radius = 8.2 /2 = 4.1 mm = 4.1 x 10^-3 m

density, d = 1.03 x 10^3 kg/m^3

Pressure = h x d x g

Where, h is the depth, d be the density of sea water and g be the acceleration due to gravity

1.515 x 10^5 = h x 1.03 x 10^3 x 9.8

h = 15 m

Thus, you can go upto depth of 15 m for the safe diving.

The ozone layer is found in which layer of the atmosphere
prohojiy [21]

This question is incomplete because the options are missing; here is the complete question

The ozone layer is found in which layer of the atmosphere?

A. Stratosphere

B. Mesosphere

C. Thermosphere

D. Troposphere

The correct answer is A. Stratosphere

Explanation:

The ozone layer as indicated by its name is mainly composed of Ozone (O2), this layer is essential for life because it filters ultraviolet radiation and acts as a greenhouse effect gas by trapping part of the heat from the sun. Additionally, the ozone layer is located in the stratosphere, which is the second layer of the atmosphere and can be found between 20 km to 50 km from Earth's surface. Moreover, the existence of the ozone layer in the stratosphere makes the temperature increase with height due to the radiation of the sun filter by ozone.

A manufacturer claims its cleanser works twice as fast as any other. Could test be performed to support the claim? Explain
lora16 [44]

Yes, a test could be performed to support the claim.

Hypothesis: The claim that a manufacturer’s cleanser works twice as fast as any other cleanser.

So, based from this hypothesis, we can perform the following tests:

We assign Cleanser A to the manufacturer that claims that their cleanser works twice as fast as any other cleanser and Cleanser B to the cleanser to be compared with.

1.       Get two tiles and put the same amount of stain on them.

2.       Apply Cleanser A on the first tile and Cleanser B on the second tile.

3.       Apply the same amount of force in removing the stains on both tiles

4.       Record the amount of time it takes to remove the stains on each tile.

Frictional force is caused by the interaction of a body with
zheka24 [161]

Answer:

Frictional force always acts parallel to two planes in contact with each other and in a direction opposite to that of relative motion of the two bodies. 2. Frictional forces are caused due to intermolecular interactions between the bodies.  Frictional force is more for rough surface and less for smooth surfaces.

blagie [28]

Given that,

Atmospheric Pressure = 14.7 psi

Cooking Pressure = 14.7 +11.1 = 25.8 psi

Take, Atmospheric Temperature = 25 °C

Cooking Temperature = ??

Since, we know that Gas equation is given by:

PV = nRT

or

P ∝ T

P1 / T1 = P2 / T2

14.7/ 25 = 25.8/ T2

T2 = 25*25.8/14.7

T2 = 43.87 °C

The cooking pressure will be 43.87 °C.
