Carbon is released and absorbed in different forms in the atmosphere. For example, carbon in form of carbondioxide (CO2) is released into the atmosphere by living organisms via the process of CELLULAR RESPIRATION. The CO2 is then absorbed by green plants for the process of PHOTOSYNTHESIS. The carbon is released back into the earth when decomposers degrade dead organisms. This process of recycling carbon via natural processes is called CARBON CYCLE.

Hence, the movement of carbon through the biosphere is the best description of carbon cycle in this question.
