Answer {x:x<10/3}

step by step explanation

first you need to change the less than sign to equal to sign

thus

\frac{x - 2}{x - 3}  = 4

cross multiplying

x - 2 = 4(x - 3)

x - 2 = 4x - 12

grouping of like terms

4x - x =  - 2 + 12

3x = 10

dividing through by 3

\frac{3x}{3}  =  \frac{10}{3}

x =  \frac{10}{3}

now the truth set is

{x:x<10/3}

the < did not change because we didn't divide by a negative number when finding for the x.

A student claims that 3(3x + 2) + 5 - 4x is equivalent to 5x + 7; however, the student is incorrect. The student's work is shown
Yuliya22 [10]

Answer:

The answer to your question is below

Step-by-step explanation:

                        3(3x + 2) + 5 - 4x =  5x + 7

Step 1: 3(3x + 2) + 5 - 4x           There is no error here, only wrote the

                                                    polynomial again

Step 2: 9x + 2 + 5 - 4x                He forgot to multiply 3 x 2 = 6

                                                     9x + 6 + 5 - 4x

Step 3: 9x - 4x + 2 + 5               He simplified like terms

Step 4: 5x + 7                              but is incorrect due to his mistake

                                                     The right answer should be 5x + 11

Given: ΔTSP, TS = SP = 10cm, TP = 12cm. Find: Three altitudes of ΔTSP.
fredd [130]

Answer:

The altitudes of ΔTSP is SC is 8 unit ,

PA is 5\sqrt{3} unit ,

TB is 5\sqrt{3} unit .

Step-by-step explanation:

Given as :

The Triangle Δ TSP having side TS , SP , TP

The measure of TS = 12 cm

The measure of SP = 10 cm

The measure of TP = 10 cm

Let The altitude from point T on side PS = TB

The altitude from point S on side PT = SC

The altitude from point P on side TS = PA

The altitude divide the sides

TS = TA + AS

PS = PB + PS

PT = PC + CT

So, From Pythagoras theorem

PA² = PS² - AS²

PA² = 10² - 5²

Or, PA² = 100 - 25

Or, PA = \sqrt{75}

∴  PA = 5\sqrt{3} unit

Again

TB² = TS² - BS²

TB² = 10² - 5²

Or, TB² = 100 - 25

Or, TB = \sqrt{75}

∴ TB =  5\sqrt{3} unit

Similarly

SC² = TS² - TC²

SC² = 10² - 6²

Or, SC² = 100 - 36

Or, SC = \sqrt{64}

∴ SC = 8 unit

Hence The altitudes of ΔTSP is SC is 8 unit , PA is 5\sqrt{3} unit , TB is 5\sqrt{3} unit . Answer

How many ways can first, second, and third place be assigned?At a gymnastics meet, twenty gymnasts compete for first, second, an
S_A_V [24]
<h2>Answer:</h2>

The total number of ways can first, second and third place can be assigned are:

                          6840

<h2>Step-by-step explanation:</h2>

The total number of people that compete are: 20

Out of these 20 people we have to chose 3 people and also arrange them according to their ranks.

We know that when we have to choose and  arrange r items out of total n items then we need to use the method of permutation.

Hence, the formula is given by:

n_P_r=\dfrac{n!}{(n-r)!}

Here we have:

n=20 and r=3

Hence, the number of ways first, second and third place can be assigned are:

{20}_P_3=\dfrac{20!}{(20-3)!}\\\\\\{20}_P_3=\dfrac{20!}{17!}\\\\\\{20}_P_3=\dfrac{20\times 19\times 18\times 17!}{17!}\\\\\\{20}_P_3=20\times 19\times 18\\\\\\{20}_P_3=6840

         Hence, the answer is:

                 6840
