A certain blue solid contains 36.84% n and 63.16% o. what is the empirical formula of this compound?
nadya68 [22]
Divide the percentages by the RAM and then divide by the smallest value, this will give a ratio of the elements in the compound. N =14, O=16
Nitrogen : Oxygen
36.84/14 : 63.16/16
    2.5 : 3.9
Divide both values by the lowest, and try to find whole number ratios:
2.5/2.5 : 3.9/2.5
        1 : 1.5
Since the ratio of oxygen to nitrogen is 1.5 : 1, we have to double it so that it become 3:2
The empirical formula would be N₂O₃

Calculate magnetic moment of a divalent ion in aqueous solution, if the electronic configuration is [Ar] 3d5 .
Ugo [173]

Answer:

5.47 B.M

Explanation:

✓We were given electronic configuration of argon as [Ar] 3d5.

✓This is a divalent ion. It has atomic number of 25.

✓magnetic moment can be calculated using below expresion

√[n(n+2)] .....................eqn(1)

✓ It has 5 unpaired electrons. Then n= 5

✓ [n(n+2)]

✓ substitute the ( n= 5) into eqn(1)

Then magnetic moment= [n(n+2)]

= [ 5(5+2) ]

= 5.47BM

All you have to do is research more about this scientist´s theory. Just google: Why wasn´t Wegner´s hypothesis accepted?
Trust me, the answers are there.
Next time just research it.
Wegner´s idea seemed so ridiculous at the time that he was ridiculed by other scientists. The problem was that to his colleagues there seemed no plausible mechanism for how the continents could move through the oceans.
