Answer:

Magnesium and chloride gas are oxidized and reduced substance respectively.

Magnesium and chloride gas are reducing agent and oxidizing respectively.

Explanation:

Mg(s)+Cl_2(g)\rightarrow Mg^{2+}(aq)+2Cl^-(aq)

Oxidation reaction is chemical reaction in which an atom or ion looses its electrons. The oxidation state of the atom also increases.

Here, in the reaction Magnesium is an oxidized substance:

Mg\rightarrow Mg^{2+}+2e^-

Reduction reaction is a chemical the reaction in which an atom or ion gains electrons. The oxidation state of the atom also decreases.

Here, in the reaction chloride is a reduced substance:

Cl_2+2e^-\rightarrow 2Cl^-

Oxidizing agent :Substance or agent which oxidize other substances and get reduce itself.

Here in the given reaction chlorine gas is an oxidizing agent.

Reducing agents :Substance or agent which reduces other substances and get oxidize itself.

Here in the given reaction magnesium is a reducing agent.

Identify the state of matter for A, B, and C.
drek231 [11]

Explanation:

A) particles are close together in random positions with about equal kinetic energy and intermolecular forces.

These points are about liquid state.

B) particles are close together in fixed positions with low kinetic energy

These points satisfy the qualities of Solid state

C)particles are far apart with greater kinetic energy and low intermolecular forces.

The above qualities are for Gaseous state of matter

A) Liquid

B)Solid

C)Gas

I wanted known how many of the reaction below is energy released
Tema [17]

Answer:

2

Explanation:

In two reactions energy is released.

1) C₆H₁₂O₆ + 6O₂    →    6H₂O + 6CO₂ + heat

It is cellular respiration reaction. It involves the breakdown of glucose molecule in the presence of oxygen to yield large amount of energy. Water and carbon dioxide are also produced as a byproduct.

Glucose + oxygen → carbon dioxide + water + 38ATP

2) 2H₂ + O₂   →    2H₂O  ΔH = -486 kj/mol

The given reaction is formation of water. In this reaction oxygen and hydrogen react to form water and 486 kj/mol is also released.

The reaction in which heat is released is called exothermic reaction.

Exothermic reaction:

The type of reactions in which energy is released are called exothermic reactions.

In this type of reaction energy needed to break the bonds are less than the energy released during the bond formation.

For example:

Chemical equation:

C + O₂   →  CO₂

ΔH = -393 Kj/mol

it can be written as,

C + O₂   →  CO₂ + 393 Kj/mol

Endothermic reactions:

The type of reactions in which energy is absorbed are called endothermic reactions.

In this type of reaction energy needed to break the bond are higher than the energy released during bond formation.

For example:

C + H₂O   →  CO  + H₂

ΔH = +131 kj/mol

it can be written as,

C +  H₂O  + 131 kj/mol  →  CO  + H₂
