So... if you notice the picture below, based on the given vertices, is a hyperbola with a vertical traverse axis

meaning for the equation, the fraction with the "y" variable is the positive fraction, thus \bf \cfrac{(y-{{ k}})^2}{{{ a}}^2}-\cfrac{(x-{{ h}})^2}{{{ b}}^2}=1

so... what' the point h,k for the center?  well, just take a peek at the graph, the center is half-way between both vertices, that's h,k

what's the "a" component or the traverse axis... well, is the distance from one vertex to the center, notice the picture, notice how many units from either vertex to the center, that's "a"

now.. what's "b"?  well, "b" comes from the conjugate axis, or the other runnning over the x-axis   hmm the smaller one in this case.... well, we dunno what "b" is

however, we know the distance from either focus, to the center of the hyperbola, and that distance "c", is  \bf c=\sqrt{a^2+b^2}

notice the picture, notice the distance from either focus to the center, that's the distance "c", thus  \bf c=\sqrt{a^2+b^2}\implies c^2=a^2+b^2\implies \sqrt{c^2-a^2}=b

that'd be "b"

bearing in mind that   \bf \cfrac{(y-{{ k}})^2}{{{ a}}^2}-\cfrac{(x-{{ h}})^2}{{{ b}}^2}=1
\qquad
\begin{cases}
center= ({{ h}},{{ k}})\\\\ b=\sqrt{c^2-a^2}
\end{cases}

Joni earns $300 per week. If she gets a 25% raise, how much more money will she earn each week?
alina1380 [7]

Answer:

\huge\boxed{$75}$75

Step-by-step explanation:

Joni currently earns $300 per week (given)

To find how much more she will earn each week, write an expression adding the original pay and the raise amount.

$300 + 25%

Find 25 as a decimal for multiplication

25%  = 25/100 = 0.25

Write an expression to represent the scenario

Expression example 1:

$300 + 0.25(300)

This expression adds the original pay and the new raise together.

Expression example 2:

$300 (1.25)

This expression already takes the new pay into account by finding 125% of the original pay.

Simplify both expressions

Expression 1:

$300 + 0.25(300)

$300 + $75

$375

Expression 2:

$300 (1.25)

$375

Both expressions represent the same scenario and therefore come out to the same result. Now that we know how much Joni made after the raise, we need to find how much more money she will earn in a week with the following equation.

New amount - original amount = amount increase

Substitute known values into the equation

$375 - $300

Simplify

$75

Joni will earn $75 more each week.

According to the statement

we have to find the correct statement with the help of the given passage.

In the given passage, the point of view according to the given options is discussed below.

The Choices A and D are incorrect because the author does not present himself as either a consumer who plans to buy solar panels or a hobbyist with a personal interest in solar panel technology. Rather, the author focuses on developments in solar technology. Choice B is incorrect because the passage does not discuss research methods used in the solar panel field but rather the technologies that exist in the field.

So, The Choice C is the best answer. In lines 10-17, the passage illustrates how the cost of solar energy has dropped in recent years. researchers at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory have made flexible solar cells on a new type of glass from Corning called Willow Glass, which is thin and can be rolled up.” Overall, the passage can be regarded as an objective overview of the solar panel industry delivered by a journalist covering the field.

I need explanations for Mathematical Proofs.
erma4kov [3.2K]

Answer:

Proofs employ logic expressed in mathematical symbols, along with natural language which usually admits some ambiguity. In most mathematical literature, proofs are written in terms of rigorous informal logic.

According to Bleiler-Baxter & Pair [22], for a mathematician, a proof serves to convince or justify that a certain statement is true. But it also helps to increase the understanding of the result and the related concepts. That is why a proof also has the role of explanation.

There are many different ways to go about proving something, we'll discuss 3 methods: direct proof, proof by contradiction, proof by induction. We'll talk about what each of these proofs are, when and how they're used. Before diving in, we'll need to explain some terminology.

Although I will focus on proofs in mathematical education per the topic of the question, first and foremost proofs are so hard because they involve taking a hypothesis and attempting to prove or disprove it by finding a counterexample. There are many such hypotheses that have (had) serious monetary rewards available.

In logic and mathematics, a formal proof or derivation is a finite sequence of sentences (called well-formed formulas in the case of a formal language), each of which is an axiom, an assumption, or follows from the preceding sentences in the sequence by a rule of inference.

All mathematicians in the study considered proofs valuable for students because they offer students new methods, important concepts and exercise in logical reasoning needed in problem solving. The study shows that some mathematicians consider proving and problem solving almost as the same kind of activities.
