Explanation:

Given parameters:

Mass of ship = 1200tonnes

Density of freshwater  = 1000kg/m³

Density of seawater  = 1.03

Unknown:

Volume of sea water it will displace = ?

Mass of cargo load that the same volume of water will displace = ?

Solution:

According to Archimede's principle "an object totally or partially submerged in a fluid will displace an equal amount of fluid corresponding to its weight or volume".

The volume of sea water the ship will displace equal to the volume of the ship.

   Relative density = \frac{density of sea water }{volume of fresh water}

 Density of sea water = 1.03 x 1000kg/m³  = 1030kg/m³

   To find the volume of water displaced by the ship;

  Density = \frac{mass}{volume}

 Volume of sea water = \frac{mass }{density }

   1200tonnes to kg ;    1200 x 1000 =1200000kg

Volume of sea water =  \frac{1200000}{1030} =  1165.04m³

Now to find the mass of fresh water displace;

   Mass of fresh water  = density x volume

    Mass of fresh water = 1000kg/m³ x 1165.04m³

   Mass of fresh water = 1165048.54kg or 1165tonnes

An electron is accelerated from rest by a potential difference of 412 V. It then enters a uniform magnetic field of magnitude 18
Salsk061 [2.6K]

Explanation:

Given that,

Potential difference, V = 412 V

Magnitude of magnetic field, B = 188 mT

(a) The potential energy of electron is balanced by its kinetic energy as :

eV=\dfrac{1}{2}mv^2

v is speed of the electron

v=\sqrt{\dfrac{2eV}{m}} \\\\v=\sqrt{\dfrac{2\times 1.6\times 10^{-19}\times 412}{9.1\times 10^{-31}}} \\\\v=1.2\times 10^7\ m/s

(b) When the charged particle moves in magnetic field, it will move in circular path. The radius of the circular path is given by :

r=\dfrac{mv}{eB}\\\\r=\dfrac{9.1\times 10^{-31}\times 1.2\times 10^7}{1.6\times 10^{-19}\times 188\times 10^{-3}}\\\\r=3.63\times 10^{-4}\ m

Hence, this is the required solution.

Since they're going in the same direction, just add the velocities together.

7.3 m/s + 0.34 m/s = 7.64m/s

Gravitational potential energy is caused when an object is resting above the ground. It is released when the object is falling, not by burning substances.

A light-rail commuter train speeds up at a rate of 1.65 m/s 2 and takes 19.0 s to reach its top speed. How far down the tracks d
Margarita [4]

Answer:

297.8 m

Explanation:

We are given that

Acceleration=a=1.65m/s^2

Time,t=19 s

We have to find the distance covered by the train when it reach its top speed if starting from rest.

Initial speed=u=0

s=ut+\frac{1}{2}at^2

Using the formula

s=0(19)+\frac{1}{2}\times 1.65(19)^2

s=297.8 m

Hence, the train covered 297.8 m when the train go to reach its top speed if starting from rest.
