Why sodium is called active metal

Chemistry

The primary difference between metals is the ease with which they undergo chemical reactions. The elements toward the bottom left corner of the periodic table are the metals that are the most active in the sense of being the most reactive. Lithium, sodium, and potassium all react with water, for example. The rate of this reaction increases as we go down this column, however, because these elements become more active as they become more metallic.

A 64.4-g sample of potassium chloride was added to 200.0 g of water at 20 degrees C. Is the solution saturated, unsaturated, or
Tomtit [17]
Hey there!:

is the solution saturated , ie :

They are the ones that have reached the exact solubility coefficient.If we mix 64.4 g of KCl at 200.0 g of water at 20 º C, we'll see that the 32.2 g will dissolve and the remainder (32.2 g) will precipitate, forming the bottom body. In this case we will then have a solution saturated with background. However, if we want only the saturated solution, simply perform a simple filtration to separate the precipitate from the saturated solution.

hope this helps!

If 17. 6 g of hcl are used to produce a 14. 5 l solution, what is the ph of the solution?.
kati45 [8]

This problem is providing us with the mass of hydrochloric acid and the volume of solution and asks for the pH of the resulting solution, which turns out to be 1.477.

pH calculations

In chemistry, one can calculate the pH of a solution by firstly obtaining its molarity as the division of the moles of solute by the liters of solution, so in this case for HCl we have:

M=\frac{17.6g*\frac{1mol}{36.46g} }{14.5L} \\\\M=0.0333 M

Next, due to the fact that hydrochloric acid is a strong acid, we realize its concentration is nearly the same to the released hydrogen ions to the solution upon ionization. Thereby, the resulting pH is:

pH=-log(0.0333)\\\\pH=1.477

Which conserves as much decimals as significant figures in the molarity.

When filtered through a funnel into a flask, a mixture of substances X, Y and Z gets separated as below: - X stays in the funnel
alisha [4.7K]

Z is the solvent, Y is soluble in water while X is insoluble in water.

Filtration

Filtration is a method of separation of substances based on particle size. Only a particular particle size can pass through the filter. The substance that remains in the filter is the residue while the substances that passes through the filter is called the filtrate.

From the observation in the question Z is the solvent, Y is soluble in water while X is insoluble in water.

What takes up the vast majority of space in an atom?
yKpoI14uk [10]

The answer is: a relatively large electron cloud.

Atom is composed of the nucleus and the electron cloud.

Protons (positive particles) and neutrons (neutral particles) are in the nucleus of an atom and electrons (negative particles) are in the electron cloud.

Nucleus is in the centar of the atom atom and electron cloud is surrounding it.

Atoms have their mass concentrated in a very small nucleus.
