A student of mass 65.4 kg, starting at rest, slides down a slide 21.2 m long, tilted at an angle of 20.1° with respect to the ho

Answer:

a. Ff = 74.03N

b. a = 2.23 m/s^2

c. v = 9.73 m/s

Explanation:

a. For an incline system, the force of kinetic friction is given by tte following formula:

F_f= \mu_k Ncos\theta=\mu_kMgcos\theta         (1)

Ff: friction force

μk: kinetic friction = 0.123

N: normal force

θ: angle of the incline = 20.1°

M: mass of the student = 65.4 kg

g: gravitational acceleration = 9.8 m/s^2

You replace the values of the parameters in the equation (1):

F_f=(0.123)(65.4kg)(9.8m/s^2)cos(20.1\°)=74.03N

The kinetic friction force is 74.03N

b. The acceleration of the student is given by the Newton second law:

W-F_f=Mgsin\theta-F_f=Ma         (2)

You solve the previous equation for a:

a=\frac{Mgsin\theta-F_f}{M}\\\\a=\frac{(65.4kg)(9.8m/s^2)sin(20.1\°)-74.03N}{65.4kg}=2.23\frac{m}{s^2}

The acceleration of the student, in his trajectory is 2.23m/s^2

c. The speed of the student, at the bottom of the trajectory, can be calculated by taking into account that the net work is equal to the change in the kinetic energy:

W_n=\Delta K\\\\(W-F_f)d=\frac{1}{2}M(v^2-v_o^2)       (3)

v: final speed = ?

vo: initial speed  = 0 m/s

d: distance traveled by the student  = 21.2m

Then, you replace the values of the parameters in the equation (3) and solve for v:

((65.4kg)(9.8m/s^2)sin(20.1\°)-74.03N)(21.2m)=\frac{1}{2}(65.4kg)v^2\\\\v=9.73\frac{m}{s}

THe speed of the student at the bottom of the slide is 9.73 m/s

If a farsighted person has a near point that is 0.600 mm from the eye, what is the focal length f2f2f_2 of the contact lenses th
Readme [11.4K]

Answer:

0.22mm

Explanation:

A far sighted person is a person suffering from long sightedness i.e such individual can only see far distant object clearly but not near distant object. The defect is corrected using convex lens.

Since convex lens is used, the focal (f) length of the lens is positive and the image distance (v) is also positive.

Using the lens formula,

1/f = 1/u + 1/v

Where u is the object distance = 0.35mm

v = 0.6mm

1/f = 1/0.35+1/0.6

1/f = 2.86 + 1.67

1/f = 4.53

f = 1/4.53

f = 0.22mm

The focal length of the contact lenses will be 0.22mm

Travels most slowly through a gas

Speeds up when temperature is increased

Is caused by vibration

Explanation for correct answers:

Yes, it does travel in longitudinal waves

Yes, sounds weird, but travels faster in the water

Yes, does speed up when temperature is increased

And yes, Is caused by vibration.

<h2>Wrong answer is:</h2>

Can travel through a vacuum

Explanation for wrong answer:

actually, in space, there is NO sound, because there are no particals for the sound to vibrate with, there's just empty SPACE.

Suppose you have a 113-kg wooden crate resting on a wood floor. (μk = 0.3 and μs = 0.5) (a) What maximum force (in N) can you ex
AURORKA [14]

Answer:

554.27N

Explanation:

(a)  The max frictional force exerted horizontally on the crate and the floor is,

Substitute the values,

μs=0.5

mass=113kg

g=9.81m/s

Ff=μsN

   =μsmg

   =(0.5 x 113 x 9.81)

Ff=554.27N
