Answer:

a. Ff = 74.03N

b. a = 2.23 m/s^2

c. v = 9.73 m/s

Explanation:

a. For an incline system, the force of kinetic friction is given by tte following formula:

F_f= \mu_k Ncos\theta=\mu_kMgcos\theta         (1)

Ff: friction force

μk: kinetic friction = 0.123

N: normal force

θ: angle of the incline = 20.1°

M: mass of the student = 65.4 kg

g: gravitational acceleration = 9.8 m/s^2

You replace the values of the parameters in the equation (1):

F_f=(0.123)(65.4kg)(9.8m/s^2)cos(20.1\°)=74.03N

The kinetic friction force is 74.03N

b. The acceleration of the student is given by the Newton second law:

W-F_f=Mgsin\theta-F_f=Ma         (2)

You solve the previous equation for a:

a=\frac{Mgsin\theta-F_f}{M}\\\\a=\frac{(65.4kg)(9.8m/s^2)sin(20.1\°)-74.03N}{65.4kg}=2.23\frac{m}{s^2}

The acceleration of the student, in his trajectory is 2.23m/s^2

c. The speed of the student, at the bottom of the trajectory, can be calculated by taking into account that the net work is equal to the change in the kinetic energy:

W_n=\Delta K\\\\(W-F_f)d=\frac{1}{2}M(v^2-v_o^2)       (3)

v: final speed = ?

vo: initial speed  = 0 m/s

d: distance traveled by the student  = 21.2m

Then, you replace the values of the parameters in the equation (3) and solve for v:

((65.4kg)(9.8m/s^2)sin(20.1\°)-74.03N)(21.2m)=\frac{1}{2}(65.4kg)v^2\\\\v=9.73\frac{m}{s}

THe speed of the student at the bottom of the slide is 9.73 m/s

The mass of a planet is 3.7 x 1024 kg. If the planet has a radius of 9.2 x 106 m what is the acceleration of gravity for a perso
nalin [4]

Explanation:

It s given that,

Mass of a planet, M=3.7\times 10^{24}\ kg

Radius of a planet, R=9.2\times 10^{6}\ m

(1) We need to find the acceleration due to gravity for a person on the surface of the planet. Its formula is given by :

g=\dfrac{GM}{R^2}

g=\dfrac{6.67\times 10^{-11}\ Nm^2/kg^2\times 3.7\times 10^{24}\ kg}{(9.2\times 10^{6}\ m)^2}

g=2.91\ m/s^2

(2) The escape velocity is given by :

v=\sqrt{\dfrac{2GM}{R}}

v=\sqrt{{\dfrac{2\times 6.67\times 10^{-11}\ Nm^2/kg^2\times 3.7\times 10^{24}\ kg}{9.2\times 10^{6}\ m}}

v = 7324.61 m/s

Hence, this is the required solution.

After the body has begun shivering, what explains why it would stop shivering?
Oksana_A [137]
The body shivers to produce energy and it uses the energy to keep it warm. The body would stop shivering when it has produced enough energy to keep it warm and the atmosphere around it has got warmer

A starship blasts past the earth at 2.0*10^8 m/s .Just after passing the earth, the starship fires a laser beam out its back of
Vilka [71]

Answer:

at the speed of light (c=3.0\cdot 10^8 m/s)

Explanation:

The second postulate of the theory of the special relativity from Einstein states that:

"The speed of light in free space has the same value c in all inertial frames of reference, where c=3.0\cdot 10^8 m/s"

This means that it doesn't matter if the observer is moving or not relative to the source of ligth: he will always observe light moving at the same speed, c.

In this problem, we have a starship emitting a laser beam (which is an electromagnetic wave, so it travels at the speed of light). The startship is moving relative to the Earth with a speed of 2.0*10^8 m/s: however, this is irrelevant for the exercise, because according to the postulate we mentioned above, an observer on Earth will observe the laser beam approaching Earth with a speed of c=3.0\cdot 10^8 m/s.
