Answer:

Renewable Resources: are considered unlimited, are replaced faster than used.

Nonrenewable Resources: are used more quickly than replaced, have fixed amounts, cannot be replaced in a short time.

Explanation:

Renewable resources are natural resources that are able to naturally regenerate themselves, hence, they are considered to be unlimited. They are usually replaced faster than they are used because they have a short regeneration time. A good example is the solar energy.

Nonrenewable resources are those natural resources that cannot naturally regenerate and when they do, it takes a very long time (usually millions of years). They are therefore used at a much faster rate than they are being replaced and their natural deposits are more or less fixed due to the long regeneration time. A good example is the crude oil deposit.

Hence:

Renewable Resources: are considered unlimited, are replaced faster than used.

Nonrenewable Resources: are used more quickly than replaced, have fixed amounts, cannot be replaced in a short time.

g Stereoisomers that are not mirror images of each are ____________ . The cis and trans isomers of a particular compound are ___
mel-nik [20]

Answer:

Diasteriomers

Stereoisomers

Stereoisomers

Meso compounds

Constitutional isomers

Enantiomers

Enantiomers

Explanation:

Isomers are compounds that posses the same molecular formula but different structural formulas.

Constitutional isomers differ only in atom to atom connectivity while stereoisomers differ in arrangement of atoms in space. Stereo isomers differ in physical and chemical properties of the compounds.

When stereo isomers are non-superimpossible mirror images of each other, they are called enantiomers. Enantiomers have the same chemical and physical properties and differ only in their reaction with chiral substances.

Achiral compounds are compounds that do not exhibit chirality. Some achiral compounds contain stereogenic centers and are called meso compounds.

Predict the reactivity of silicon in water relative to that of sodium, magnesium, and aluminium. Explain your answer. How does t
Inessa [10]

Answer:

See explanation

Explanation:

The reactivity of metals has a lot to do with their position in the electrochemical series. However, it is also known that metallic character decreases across the period. This implies that as we move from left to right along the periodic table. Sodium, magnesium, aluminum and silicon continues to decrease in metallic character. As a matter of fact, silicon is a metalloid and not a pure metal.

Sodium reacts with cold water to give a vigorous reaction, magnesium and aluminium reacts with steam at red heat.

Silicon does not react with water, even as steam, under normal conditions.

When solving an equation using Gay-Lussac's law, which of the following steps do not apply? A. List your knowns and unknowns. B.
suter [353]

Answer:

C. Plug the unknowns into the ideal gas law formula.

Explanation:

Gay-Lussac's law states that:

"For a constant mass of an ideal gas kept at constant volume, the pressure of the gas is directly proportional to its absolute temperature"

Mathematically, it can be written as:

\frac{p_1}{T_1}=\frac{p_2}{T_2}

where

p1 is the initial pressure

T1 is the initial temperature (in Kelvin)

p2 is the final pressure

T2 is the final temperature (in Kelvin)

Therefore, in order to solve for one of the 4 variables, the following steps must be adopted:

A. List your knowns and unknowns.

B. Convert temperature to kelvin.

D. Solve for the unknown.

While the following step is not needed:

C. Plug the unknowns into the ideal gas law formula.

Because we do not need to use the ideal gas law formula.
