Answer:

1) 341 Hz

Explanation:

When a string vibrates, it can vibrate with different frequencies, corresponding to different modes of oscillations.

The fundamental frequency is the lowest possible frequency at which the string can vibrate: this occurs when the string oscillate in one segment only.

If the string oscillates in n segments, we say that it is the n-th mode of vibration, or n-th harmonic.

The frequency of the n-th harmonic is given by

f_n = nf_1

where

n is the number of the harmonic

f_1 is the fundamental frequency

Here we have:

f_3=512 Hz is the frequency of the 3rd harmonic

So the fundamental frequency is

f_1=\frac{f_3}{3}=\frac{512}{3}=170.7 Hz

And so, the frequency of the 2nd harmonic is:

f_2=2f_1=2(170.7)=341.3 Hz

Answer:

Heat flows from hot to cold objects. When a hot and a cold body are in thermal contact, they exchange heat energy until they reach thermal equilibrium, with the hot body cooling down and the cold body warming up. This is a natural phenomenon we experience all the time.

When using the right-hand rule to determine the direction of the magnetic force on a charge, which part of the hand points in the direction that the charge is moving? The answer is <span>thumb.

</span>One way to remember this is that there is one velocity, represented accordingly by the thumb. There are many field lines, represented accordingly by the fingers. The force is in the direction you would push with your palm. The force on a negative charge is in exactly the opposite direction to that on a positive charge. Because the force is always perpendicular to the velocity vector, a pure magnetic field will not accelerate a charged particle in a single direction, however will produce circular or helical motion (a concept explored in more detail in future sections). It is important to note that magnetic field will not exert a force on a static electric charge. These two observations are in keeping with the rule that <span>magnetic fields do no </span>work<span>.</span>
