Answer : The correct option is, (A) The box does not move.

Explanation :

Force : It is defined as the force can be a push or a pull.

Balanced force : When the two forces are equal in magnitude and in opposite direction. These forces are balance to each other. In this force, the object does not move.

Unbalanced force : When the two forces are not equal in magnitude and direction. These forces does not balance to each other. In this force, the object will move on that side where the force will be applied more.

There are three cases :

Case 1 : F_L=F_R

That means, when the force applied from left side are equal to the force applied from the right side then they balance to each other and object will not move.

Case 2 : F_L>F_R

That means, when the force applied from left side are more than the force applied from the right side then the object will move towards right side.

Case 3 : F_L

That means, when the force applied from left side are less than the force applied from the right side then the object will move towards left side.

According to question, the applied forces are equal in magnitude and in opposite direction. So, the box will not move.

Therefore, the correct answer is, A

Which of the following radiations consists of a helium nucleus emitted by some radioactive substances? Alpha radiation Beta radi
erica [24]

Answer: Alpha radiation

Explanation: Alpha decay : When a larger radioactive nuclei decays into smaller nuclei by releasing alpha radiation, the mass number and atomic number is reduced by 4 and 2 units respectively.

_Z^A\textrm{X}\rightarrow _{Z-2}^{A-4}Y+_2^4\textrm{He}

Beta decay : When a larger radioactive nuclei decays into smaller nuclei by releasing beta radiation, the atomic number is increased by 1 unit.

_Z^A\textrm{X}\rightarrow _{Z+1}^{A}Y+_{-1}^0e

Gamma decay : When a larger radioactive nuclei decays into smaller nuclei by releasing gamma radiation, the mass number remains same.

_Z^A\textrm{X}^*\rightarrow _Z^A\textrm{X}+_0^0\gamma

Sort each of the following elements by effective nuclear charge, Zeff, from smallest to largest:
krek1111 [17]

Answer:

Rb = +1 , Sr = +2, In= +3,  Sn = +4, Sb= +5

Explanation:

Formula:

Zeff = Z - S

Z = atomic number

S = number of core shell or inner shell electrons

For Sn:

Electronic configuration:

Sn₅₀ = [Kr] 4d¹⁰ 5s² 5p²

Zeff = Z - S

Zeff = 50 - 46

Zeff = +4

For Rb:

Electronic configuration:

Rb₃₇ = [Kr] 5s¹

Zeff = Z - S

Zeff = 37 - 36

Zeff = +1

For Sb:

Electronic configuration:

Sb₅₁ = [Kr] 4d¹⁰ 5s² 5p³

Zeff = Z - S

Zeff = 51 - 46

Zeff = +5

For In:

Electronic configuration:

In₄₉ = [Kr] 4d¹⁰ 5s² 5p¹

Zeff = Z - S

Zeff = 49 - 46

Zeff = +3

For Sr:

Electronic configuration:

Sr₃₈= [Kr]  5s²

Zeff = Z - S

Zeff = 38 - 36

Zeff = +2

A 1.0l buffer solution contains 0.100 mol of hc2h3o2 and 0.100 mol of nac2h3o2. the value of ka for hc2h3o2 is 1.8×10−5. part a

There are two ways to solve this problem. We can use the ICE method which is tedious and lengthy or use the Henderson–Hasselbalch equation. This equation relates pH and the concentration of the ions in the solution. It is expressed as

pH = pKa + log [A]/[HA]

 where pKa = - log [Ka]
[A] is the concentration of the conjugate base
[HA] is the concentration of the acid

Given:
Ka = 1.8x10^-5
NaOH added = 0.015 mol
HC2H3O2 = 0.1 mol
NaC2H3O2 = 0.1 mol

Solution:
pKa = - log ( 1.8x10^-5) = 4.74

[A] = 0.015 mol + 0.100 mol = .115 moles
[HA] = .1 - 0.015 = 0.085 moles

pH = 4.74 + log (.115/0.085)
pH = 4.87
