Which phase of matter is made up of particles that are packed relatively close together, with an indefinite shape but a definite
Bezzdna [24]

property of gas

gas molecules are very loosely bonded with each other so the force between the molecules is very weak

Due to this weak force the molecules of gas can attain any shape and any volume.

So gas moles have no finite shape and no finite volume

Property of Solids

Solids are tightly packed and having very strong bond between the molecules

If all molecules are tightly bonded then they have always a finite shape and finite volume so in this case we can not change the volume or shape of the solids as it is fixed.

Property of Liquids

Liquid molecules are moderately bonded together and since the force is more than the force between the gas molecules so liquids have finite volume but indefinite shape

liquid attains the shape of the container but its volume is fixed

So in above all examples Liquid is correct answer

if you put something like apiece of cardboard between a magnet and a iron nail, the magnet still holds the nail. how?
AlekseyPX
Magnetic fields can go through some materials (like cardboard). Electric fields can also do that. Electromagnetic waves can do that. It’s not at all unusual because magnetic fields are not made up of particles so they can go through materials.

Calculate the period (T) of uniform circular motion if the velocity is 40.0 m/s and centripetal acceleration is 20.0 m/s2.
kirill [66]
T is the time for a whole round.

centripetal acceleration = V^2/R,

20 = 40^2 / R, find R = 40^2/20 = 40*40/20 = 80 m, right?

Now, one round is L = 2*pi*R = 2*pi*80 = 160*pi

And T = L/v (distance/speed) = 160*pi/40 = 4*pi seconds, or ~ 12.57 s

a bus travels 4 km due north and 3 km due west going from bus station a to bus station b. the magnitude of the bus displacement
ladessa [460]

Answer:

5km

Explanation:

Magnitude of displacement is found by getting the resultant. Resultant is same as the bypotenuse hence

R=\sqrt {{x^{2}+y^{2}} where x is the displacement in west direction and y is displacement in North direction. Substituting x with 3km and y with 4 km then

R=\sqrt {{3^{2}+4^{2}}=5km

By what potential difference must a proton [m_0 = 1.67E-27 kg) be accelerated to have a wavelength lambda = 4.23E-12 m? By what
Vinil7 [7]

Explanation:

1. Mass of the proton, m_p=1.67\times 10^{-27}\ kg

Wavelength, \lambda_p=4.23\times 10^{-12}\ m

We need to find the potential difference. The relationship between potential difference and wavelength is given by :

\lambda=\dfrac{h}{\sqrt{2m_pq_pV}}

V=\dfrac{h^2}{2q_pm_p\lambda^2}

V=\dfrac{(6.62\times 10^{-34})^2}{2\times 1.6\times 10^{-19}\times 1.67\times 10^{-27}\times (4.23\times 10^{-12})^2}

V = 45.83 volts

2. Mass of the electron, m_p=9.1\times 10^{-31}\ kg

Wavelength, \lambda_p=4.23\times 10^{-12}\ m

We need to find the potential difference. The relationship between potential difference and wavelength is given by :

\lambda=\dfrac{h}{\sqrt{2m_eq_eV}}

V=\dfrac{h^2}{2q_em_e\lambda^2}

V=\dfrac{(6.62\times 10^{-34})^2}{2\times 1.6\times 10^{-19}\times 9.1\times 10^{-31}\times (4.23\times 10^{-12})^2}

V=6.92\times 10^{34}\ V

V = 84109.27 volt

Hence, this is the required solution.
