If an airplane is moving at a constant speed of 500 miles per hour in a straight line is it accelerating?

You just said "constant speed", and "straight line" which means constant direction.

"Acceleration" means any change of speed or direction of motion. Since neither of those is changing, no acceleration is happening.

No. It’s moving at a constant speed (speed is not changing) in a straight line (same direction so velocity is not changing) so it is not accelerating. Acceleration only occurs if there’s a change in speed/velocity.

. Calculate the unbalanced force acting on a 0.50 kg toy rocket that accelerates at a constant rate with a velocity of 20 m/s (u
Kruka [31]

Answer:

17.85N

Explanation:

Given data

m= 0.5kg

u= 20m/s

v= 45m/s

t= 0.7second

From

F= mΔv/t

substitute

F=0.5*(45-20)/0.7

F=0.5*25/0.7

F=12.5/0.7

F=17.85

Hence the force is 17.85N

Q15.17 Both wave intensity and gravitation obey inverse-square laws. Do they do so for the same reason?Discuss the reason for ea
s2008m [1.1K]

(a) Intensity obeys inverse square law from basis of light passing through a given surface.

(b) Gravitation obeys inverse square law from the basis of force between two masses.

(c) The maximum magnitude of the acceleration of the block is 126.75 m/s².

What is intensity?

Intensity is the ratio is ratio of power to area of a given surface.

I = P/A (W/m²)

where;

 • P is power
 • A is area

Universal gravitation law

F = \frac{Gm_1m_2}{r^2}

Intensity and gravitation do not obey inverse square law for same reason;

 • Intensity obeys inverse square law from basis of light passing through a given surface.
 • Gravitation obeys inverse square law from the basis of force between two masses.

Acceleration of the block

a = v²/A

a = (3.9²)/0.12

a = 126.75 m/s²

Which of the following helps to explain how hydraulic lifts work?
Gnesinka [82]

Answer : C. Pascal's principle.

Explaination : Pascal's principle (well-known as Pascal's law) states that if a closed container contains a fluid at rest, then a small change in pressure at one side of the fluid is transmitted to each and every part of the fluid and also to the walls of the container without any loss. In a hydraulic lift, we need the same mechanism to work and so we take the help of Pascal's principle.

Hence, the correct option is C. Pascal's principle.
