The concentration of A will be <em>0.34 mol·L⁻¹</em> after 60 min.

In a first-order reaction, the formula for the amount remaining after <em>n</em> half-lives is

\text{[A]} = \frac{\text{[A]}_{0}}{2^{n}}\\

If t_{\frac{1}{2}} = \text{20 min}\\

n = \frac{t}{t_{\frac{1}{2}}} = \frac{\text{60 min}}{\text{20 min}}= \text{3.0}

∴ \text{[A]} = \frac{\text{2.7 mol/L}}{2^{3.0}} = \frac{\text{2.7 mol/L}}{8.0} = \textbf{0.34 mol/L}

Calculate the heat (in J) required to raise the temperature of 3.02 g of solid silver from 22.3 degrees Celsius so solid silver
Furkat [3]

Answer: 17.9 joules

Explanation:

The quantity of Heat Energy (Q) required to heat solid silver depends on its Mass (M), specific heat capacity (C) and change in temperature (Φ)

Thus, Q = MCΦ

Given that,

Q = ?

Mass= 3.02g

C = 0.24J/g°C

Φ = (Final temperature - Initial temperature)

= 47°C - 22.3°C = 24.7°C

Then, Q = MCΦ

Q = 3.02g x 0.240J/g°C x 24.7°C

Q = 17.9 Joules

Thus, 17.9 joules of heat isrequired.

A 66.4 gram sample of Ba(ClO4)2 3 H2O was heated thoroughly in a porcelain crucible, until its weight remained constant. After h
PSYCHO15rus [73]

Answer:

57.2 g

Explanation:

First we <u>convert 66.4 grams of Ba(ClO₄)₂·3H₂O into moles</u>, using its <em>molar mass</em>:

  • Molar mass of Ba(ClO₄)₂·3H₂O = Molar mass of Ba(ClO₄)₂ + (Molar Mass of H₂O)*3
  • Molar mass of Ba(ClO₄)₂·3H₂O = 390.23 g/mol
  • 66.4 g ÷ 390.23 g/mol = 0.170 mol Ba(ClO₄)₂·3H₂O

0.170 moles of Ba(ClO₄)₂·3H₂O would produce 0.170 moles of 0.170 moles of Ba(ClO₄)₂. Meaning we now <u>convert 0.170 moles of Ba(ClO₄)₂ into grams,</u> using the molar mass of Ba(ClO₄)₂:

  • 0.170 mol * 336.23 g/mol = 57.2 g
