An echo is heard from a cliff 3.71 s after a rifle is fired. How many feet away is the cliff
LenKa [72]

The cliff is 2042 ft away.

We know that the speed of sound in air is directly proportional to the absolute temperature.

First convert the Fahrenheit temperature to Celsius;

 °C = 5/9(44.5 - 32)

°C = 6.9 °C

Applying the formula;

V1/V2 = √T1/T2

Where; V1 = velocity of sound in air at  0°C

V2 = Velocity of sound in air at 6.9 °C

1087/V2 = √273/279.9

V2= 1101 ft/s

Given that; V = 2s/t

Where s is the distance of the cliff

t is the time taken

1101 ft/s = 2s/3.71 s

s = 1101 ft/s × 3.71 s/2

s = 2042 ft

The equation y = 5 Sin (3x - 4t), where
igomit [66]

Answer:

Frequency, f = 0.63 Hz

Period, T = 1.58 s

Speed of a wave, v = 1.34 m/s

Explanation:

The equation of a wave is given by :

y = 5 \sin (3x - 4t) ...(1)

y is in mm

x is in meters

t is in seconds

The general equation of a wave is given by :

y=A\sin(kx-\omega t) ...(2)

(i) Compare equation (1) and (2) we get :

k=3\\\\\omega=4

Since,

\omega=2\pi f\\\\f=\dfrac{\omega}{2\pi}\\\\f=\dfrac{4}{2\pi}\\\\f=0.63\ Hz

(ii) Period of wave is :

T=\dfrac{1}{f}\\\\T=\dfrac{1}{0.63}\\\\T=1.58\ s

(iii) Speed of a wave,

v=\dfrac{\omega}{k}\\\\v=\dfrac{4}{3}\\\\v=1.34\ m/s

Ann successfully jumped over a 25.5 m-wideriver. Assuming that she started and landed at the same level and was airborne for 2.5
dolphi86 [110]

Answer:

Explanation:

t=Time airborne=2.54 s

R= horizontal range= 25.5 m

From the projectile motion equations we know that:

H=\frac{g*t^{2}}{8}

H=\frac{9.8 \frac{m}{s^{2}} *(2.54s)^{2}}{8}

H=7.9 m
