Potential energy definition. The energy an object has because of its position, rather than its motion. An object held in a person's hand has potential energy, which turns to kinetic energy — the energy of motion — when the person lets it go, and it drops to the ground.

Just look it up

Kinetic energy is <span>energy that a body possesses by virtue of being in motion.Or in other words, the energy you use when you are moving around.
Potential energy is energy that a body possesses by virtue of being in place. Or in other words when your body is not in motion.

Hope this helped. :)</span>

The evil team of Ms. Moonstruck and Mr. Luny intend to deflect the Moon from its orbit around Earth by pulling it with a force o
BabaBlast [244]

Answer:

92867kg

Explanation:

DATA:

mass of the moon 'm_1'= 7.36 x 10^2^2kg

mass of the mini black hole 'm_2'=?

universal gravitational constant= 6.67x10^-^1^1 Nm²/kg²

distance 'r'= 7.47×10^6 m

force 'F'= 8170N

Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation is given by:

F=G\frac{m_1m_2}{r^2}

m_2=\frac{(8170)(7.47*10^6)^2}{(6.67*10^-^1^1)(7.36*10^2^2)}

m_2=92867kg

What energy transformation occurs when a skydiver first jumps from a plane
d1i1m1o1n [39]
The skydiver jumping from a plane high up in the sky would most likely experience various energy transformation. For starters, it would undergo a very large gravitational potential energy because of its much higher elevation. After jumping, this energy would eventually transform to kinetic energy due to the force exerted by the gravity.

A rock is thrown upward with a velocity of 18 meters per second from the top of a 38 meter high cliff, and it misses the cliff o
Roman55 [17]

The rock would be at a point 12 m from water at a time <u>4.8 s</u>.

Take the origin of the coordinate system at the top of the cliff. It is thrown upwards with a velocity u. When the rock is at a point 12 m from water, calculate the vertical displacement of the rock from the origin.

y= -38m- (-12 m)=-26 m

Use the equation of motion,

y=ut +\frac{1}{2} at^2

The rock falls under the acceleration due to gravity, directed down wards.

Substitute 18 m/s for u, -26 m for y and -9.8 m/s² for a=g.

y=ut +\frac{1}{2} at^2\\ (-26 m)=(18m/s)t+\frac{1}{2}(-9.8m/s^2)t^2

Solve the quadratic equation for t.

t=\frac{(18m/s)(+/-)\sqrt{(18m/s)^2-4(4.9m/s^2)(-26m)} }{2(4.9m/s^2)}

Taking only the positive value,

t=\frac{(18 m/s)+(28.87 m/s)}{9.8 m/s^2)} \\ t=4.78 s

After a time of <u>4.8 s</u> the rock would be at a distance of 12 m from water.
