Starting from rest, a 2.3x10-4 kg flea springs straight upward. While the flea is pushing off from the ground, the ground exerts

an average upward force of 0.49 N on it. This force does 3.6x10-4 J of work on the flea. (a) What is the flea's speed when it leaves the ground

Answer:

3.13 m/s

Explanation:

From the question,

Since the flea spring started from rest,

Ek = W................... Equation 1

Where Ek = Kinetic Energy of the flea spring, W = work done on the flea spring.

But,

Ek = 1/2mv²............ Equation 2

Where m = mass of the flea spring, v = flea's speed when it leaves the ground.

substitute equation 2 into equation 1

1/2mv² = W.................... Equation 3

make v the subject of the equation

v = √(2W/m)................. Equation 4

Given: W = 3.6×10⁻⁴ J, m = 2.3×10⁻⁴ kg

Substitute into equation 4

v = √[2×3.6×10⁻⁴ )/2.3×10⁻⁴]

v = 7.2/2.3

v = 3.13 m/s

Hence the flea's speed when it leaves the ground = 3.13 m/s

a hairdryer is used for 600 seconds to dry hair. it has a 750 watt rating. how much work did the hairdryer do
olga2289 [7]

The amount of work done by the hairdryer is equal to 450 Kilojoules.

Given the following data:

 • Time = 600 seconds
 • Power = 750 watt

To determine the amount of work done by the hairdryer:

Mathematically, the work done by an object with respect to power and time is given by the formula:

Work\;done = power \times time

Substituting the given parameters into the formula, we have;

Work\;done = 750 \times 600

Work done = 450,000 Joules

Note: 1000 Joules = 1 Kilojoules.

Work done = 450 Kilojoules.

Calculate the work done by an applied force of 76.0 N on a crate for the following. (Include the sign of the value in your answe
telo118 [61]

Answer:

a) 400.4Joules

b) 262.69Joules

Explanation:

Work is said to be done if the force applied to an object cause the object to move through a distance

Workdone = Force × Distance

Given

Force = 76N

Distance= 5.2m

Work done = 77 × 5.2

Work done = 400.4Joules

b) If the force is exerted at an angle of 41°

Work done = Fdsin theta

Work done = 77(5.2)sin41

Work done = 400.4sin41

Work done = 262.69Joules

Orbital velocity is the average speed ofa planet moving through space in itsorbit around the sun. Which of thefollowing planets
liubo4ka [24]

Answer:

Mercury

Explanation:

The force of gravity is equal to the mass times the centripetal acceleration:

Fg = m v² / r

Also, the force of gravity is defined by Newton's law of universal gravitation, which states the Fg = mMG / r², where m and M are the masses of the objects, G is the universal constant of gravitation, and r is the distance between the objects.

mMG / r² = m v²/ r

MG / r = v²

This means the square of the orbital velocity is equal to the mass of the sun times the universal constant of gravity divided by the orbital radius. So whichever planet has the smallest orbital radius will have the highest orbital velocity. Of the four options, that would be Mercury.
