A playground merry-go-round has a mass of 120 kg and a radius of 1.80 m and it is rotating with an angular velocity of 0.500 rev

/s. what is its angular velocity (in rev/s) after a 22.0 kg child gets onto it by grabbing its outer edge? the child is initially at rest.

To answer this problem, we must remember that momentum is conserved. Therefore,

Initial momentum = Final momentum

In this case we use angular momentum which it is defined as:

Momentum =0.5 m ω^2

So finding for final angular velocity, ωf:

mi * ωi^2 = mf * ωf^2

120 kg * (0.5 rev / s)^2 = (120 kg + 22 kg) * ωf^2

ωf^2 = 0.2113

ω<span>f = 0.46 rev/s</span>

Choose the sources of gamma rays. Check all that apply.
harina [27]

Answer:

a. Stars all warm objects

c. Some unstable atomic nuclei

Explanation:

Gamma rays are photons of very high energy (beyond 100keV) enough to remove an electron from its orbit.

They have a very short wavelength, less than 5 meters from the peak, and can be produced by nuclear decay, especially in the breasts of massive stars at the end of life.

They were discovered by the French chemist Paul Villard (1860 to 1934).

While X-rays are produced by electronic transitions in general caused by the collision of an electron with an atom at high speed, gamma rays are produced by nuclear transitions.

 Gamma rays produce damage similar to those caused by X-rays or ultraviolet rays (burns, cancer and genetic mutations).

The sources of gamma rays that we observe in the universe come from <u>massive stars (hypernovas) or some warm objects on the space</u> that end their lives by a gravitational collapse that leads to the formation of a neutron star or a black hole, as well as <u>unstable radioactive nuclei </u>that emit radiation gamma to reach its steady state.

Objects with masses of 135 kg and a 435 kg are separated by 0.500 m. Find the net gravitational force exerted by these objects o
IrinaVladis [17]

Answer:

The net gravitational force on the mass is 1.27\times 10^{-5}

Explanation:

We have by Newton's law of gravity the force of attraction between masses m_{1},m_{2}

F_{att}=G\frac{m_{1}m_{2}}{r^{2}}

Applying vales we get

Force of attraction between 135 kg mass and 38 kg mass is

F_{1}=6.67\times 10^{-11}\frac{135\times 38}{(0.25)^{2}}\\\\F_{1}=5.47\times 10^{-6}N

Force of attraction between 435 kg mass and 38 kg mass is

F_{2}=6.67\times 10^{-11}\frac{435\times 38}{(0.25)^{2}}\\\\F_{2}=1.76\times 10^{-5}N

Thus the net force on mass 38.0 kg is F_{2}-F_{1}=1.76\times 10^{-5}-5.47\times 10^{-6}\\\\F_{2}-F_{1}=1.27\times 10^{-5}
