Answer: Solution A : [H_3O^+]=0.300\times 10^{-7}M

Solution B : [OH^-]=0.107\times 10^{-5}M

Solution C : [OH^-]=0.177\times 10^{-10}M

Explanation:

pH or pOH is the measure of acidity or alkalinity of a solution.

pH is calculated by taking negative logarithm of hydrogen ion concentration and pOH is calculated by taking negative logarithm of hydroxide ion concentration.

pH=-\log[H_3O^+]

pOH=-log[OH^-}

pH+pOH=14

[H_3O^+][OH^-]=10^{-14}

a. Solution A: [OH^-]=3.33\times 10^{-7}M

[H_3O^+]=\frac{10^{-14}}{3.33\times 10^{-7}}=0.300\times 10^{-7}M

b. Solution B : [H_3O^+]=9.33\times 10^{-9}M

[OH^-]=\frac{10^{-14}}{9.33\times 10^{-9}}=0.107\times 10^{-5}M

c. Solution C : [H_3O^+]=5.65\times 10^{-4}M

[OH^-]=\frac{10^{-14}}{5.65\times 10^{-4}}=0.177\times 10^{-10}M

Give the structures of both 1,2 and 1,4 adducts resulting from reaction of 1 equivalent of hcl with 1,3-pentadiene
GrogVix [38]

1,3-pentadiene has two double bonds which are conjugated, which undergo electrophilic addition reaction on reacting with HCl.

The structure of 1,3-pentadiene is shown in the image.

When strong acid such as HCl reacts with 1,3-pentadiene, the electrophilic addition reaction can occur either on double bond at 1,2-position or at 3,4-position. The reaction that occurs is shown in the image.

The reaction 2a → a2 was experimentally determined to be second order with a rate constant, k, equal to 0.0265 m–1min–1. if
katovenus [111]

The integrated rate law for a second-order reaction is given by:

\frac{1}{[A]t} =   \frac{1}{[A]0} + kt

where, [A]t= the concentration of A at time t,

[A]0= the concentration of A at time t=0

<span>k =</span> the rate constant for the reaction

<u>Given</u>: [A]0= 4 M, k = 0.0265 m–1min–1 and t = 180.0 min

Hence, \frac{1}{[A]t} = \frac{1}{4} + (0.0265 X 180)

<span>                                        = 4.858</span>

<span><span><span>Therefore, [A]</span>t</span>= 0.2058 M.</span>

<span>
</span>

<span>Answer: C</span>oncentration of A, after 180 min, is 0.2058 M
