There are 2.2 pounds in a kilogram. if a boys mass is 40kg, what is his height in pounds?
sasho [114]
The simplest way to do this is to set up equivalent fractions, like this-

\frac{1}{2.2} = \frac{40}{x}

Solve for x by using cross multiplication.

40*2.2= 88
1*x=88
x=88

Therefore, the boy weighs 88lbs.

Suppose a firm is producing 2,475 units of output by hiring 50 workers (W = $20 per hour) and 25 units of capital (R = $10 per h
Neko [114]

Answer

given,

firm is producing  = 2,475 units

output by hiring 50 workers W = $20 per hour

25 units of capital R = $10 per hour

marginal product of labor = 40

marginal product of capital = 25

\dfrac{MP_l}{MP_c}=\dfrac{40}{25}

\dfrac{MP_l}{MP_c}=\dfrac{8}{5}

\dfrac{W}{R}=\dfrac{20}{10}

\dfrac{W}{R}=2

\dfrac{MP_l}{MP_c} < \dfrac{W}{R}

Firm is not minimizing the cost because the firm use more capital and less labor.

An object of mass 300 g, moving with an initial velocity of 5.00i-3.20j m/s, collides with an sticks to an object of mass 400 g,
Alexus [3.1K]

Answer:

Velocity is 2.17 m/s at an angle of 9.03° above X-axis.

Explanation:

Mass of object 1 , m₁ = 300 g = 0.3 kg

Mass of object 2 , m₂ = 400 g = 0.4 kg

Initial velocity of object 1 , v₁ = 5.00i-3.20j m/s

Initial velocity of object 2 , v₂ = 3.00j m/s

Mass of composite = 0.7 kg

We need to find final velocity of composite.

Here momentum is conserved.

Initial momentum = Final momentum

Initial momentum = 0.3 x (5.00i-3.20j) + 0.4 x 3.00j = 1.5 i + 0.24 j kgm/s

Final momentum = 0.7 x v = 0.7v kgm/s

Comparing

1.5 i + 0.24 j = 0.7v

v = 2.14 i + 0.34 j

Magnitude of velocity

       v=\sqrt{2.14^2+0.34^2}=2.17m/s

Direction,

       \theta =tan^{-1}\left ( \frac{0.34}{2.14}\right )=9.03^0

Velocity is 2.17 m/s at an angle of 9.03° above X-axis.

An object is hanging by a string from the ceiling of an elevator. The elevator is moving upward with a constant speed. What is t
xeze [42]

Answer:

The magnitude of the tension in he string is equal to the magnitude of the weight of the object.

Explanation:

According to the Newton's 1st law, An object will remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight line unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.

In here, the elevator is moving with a constant speed. So the object must have the equal constant speed. Which means, it has a uniform motion. According to Newton's 1st law, the total unbalanced force on the object must be zero . As we know, there are only two forces are on the object and they are,

The tension in string(T)   ,   The weight of the object(W) .

                                  ∴ F    =   0

                                 T  -  W  =   0

So to balanced those forces, the magnitude of the tension in the string must be equal to the magnitude of the weight of  the object.
