A team of eight dogs pulls a sled with waxed wood runners on wet snow (mush!). The dogs have average masses of 19.0 kg, and the

loaded sled with its rider has a mass of 210 kg. (a) Calculate the magnitude of the acceleration starting from rest if each dog exerts an average force of 185 N backward on the snow. (b) What is the magnitude of the acceleration once the sled starts to move

Answer

given,

number of dog = 8

mass of each dog= 19 Kg

mass of sled = 210 Kg

average force = 185 Nss

a) writing all the horizontal force

   force acting by dog - friction force = (M + 8m) a

   8 F_d - μ m g = (M + 8m) a

assuming coefficient of friction of snow be μ = 0.14

    8 x 185 - 0.14 x 210 x 9.8 = (210 + 8 x 19 ) x a

               a = 3.29 m/s²

b)  the kinetic friction of coefficient is less than static friction

 hence, we can suggest that acceleration of the sled will increase once the sled start to move.

                a > 3.29 m/s²

Consider a disk of radius 2.6 cm with a uni- formly distributed charge of +6.7.1C. Compute the magnitude of the electric field a
MrRissso [65]

Answer:

E=15.3*10¹³ N/C  : approximate

Explanation:

We use the following formula to calculate the electric field due to a disk with uniform surface charge at a point P that is along the central perpendicular axis of the disk and at a distance x from the center of the disk:

E= 2*π*k*σ*F  Fórmula ( 1 )

F= 1-\frac{x}{\sqrt{R^{2}+x^{2}  } }

E: Electric field at point P (N/C)

σ: surface charge density (C/m²)

R: disk radio (m)

x :distance from the center of the disk to the point P located on the axis of the disk (m)

K: Coulomb constant ( N*m²/C)

Equivalences

1cm = 10⁻²m

1mm = 10⁻³m

Data

R =2.6 cm= 2.6*10⁻²m = 0.026m

x=3.7 mm = 3.7* 10⁻³m = 0,0037 m

Q=+6.71C.

k= 8.98774 * 10⁹ N* m²/C

Calculation of surface charge density (σ )

σ= Q/A

Q:  uniformly distributed charge (C)

A: disk area (m²) = π*R²

σ= +6.71C/π*(2.6*10⁻²)²m² = 3159.56C/m²

Calculation of the electric field at point P

We apply formula (1) and replace data

E= 2*π*3159.56*8.98774*10⁹ *F

F= 1-\frac{x}{\sqrt{R^{2}+x^{2}  } }

E=15.3*10¹³ N/C  : approximate

A wheel rotates through an angle of 15.6 rad as it slows down uniformly from 22.0 rad/s to 13.5 rad/s. What is the magnitude of
charle [14.2K]

Answer:

α = -9.67 rad/s²

Explanation:

the magnitude of the angular acceleration of the wheel can be calculated using the expression below;

ω² = ω₀² + 2α(θ- θ₀)..............eqn(1)

ω² = ω₀² + 2αΔθ...............eqn(2)

Δθ= θ- θ₀= 15.6 rad

ω = 13.5 rad/s

ω₀ = 22.0 rad/s

where ω₀= initial angular velocity

ω= final angular velocity

We can now input all the parameters into the equation(2) above

(13.5)² = (22.0)² + 2αΔθ

2αΔθ= (13.5)² - (22.0)²

2αΔθ= 182.25 - 484

2αΔθ=301.75

But our Δθ= 15.6 rad

2α *15.6 rad = 301.75

2α=301.75/15.6

2α=19.343

α=9.67

the magnitude of the angular acceleration of the wheel is 9.67 rad/s²
