When a liquid state changes into gaseous state then this process is known as evaporation.

Since, molecules in a liquid are slightly away from each other as compared to molecules in a solid state. As molecules in a liquid state have more kinetic energy. But when heat is provided to a liquid then its molecules gain even more energy.

Thus, there occurs change in state from liquid to gas.
