If the moon were twice as massive but twice as far from Earth, high tides on Earth would be – (think of it’s force)

Hi!

The answer would be B. Lower.

Explanation:

This is because Force between two bodies is directly proportional to the mass of an object, but inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.

So if the mass of the moon becomes twice, the force would also be twice as strong. (2 F ) , but if the distance is doubled, this force (2 F ) would be quartered ( 2F/4 = F/2 ) which would be half of the original force F.

Hence if the force is halved, the tides would be lower.

Hope this helps!

What are two reasons why the terrestrial planets formed closer to the Sun after the supernova event that initiated the formation
elixir [45]
It is because of their gravitational pull .. Due to high gravitational force the planets are tend to move closer and they infact form closer to the sun. as the mass of the sun is very large.
and some of them which is also considered as outer planets like the titan the moon of the Saturn .. has to orbit the Saturn due to the gravitational force . its all because of the gravitational force between the planets and the sun .. which comprises to form solar system

Which statements accurately describe mechanical waves? Check all that apply.
stiks02 [169]

Answers that apply include

 • Energy is transferred through vibrating particles
 • An ocean wave moving through water is an example of a mechanical wave
 • A longitudinal wave is a type of mechanical wave.
 • A transverse wave is a type of mechanical wave

Mechanical waves can't pass through vacuum like electromagnetic waves because t depends on the transfer of energy between particles of matter (matter that has inertia and elasticity). This energy propagates in the same direction as the wave. Another example of mechanical energy is sound. In addition to longitudinal and transverse waves, another type of mechanical wave is surface waves.

Explain how you know that gasoline burning in a car engine is a chemical change.?
polet [3.4K]
Burning, in general, is a chemical change.
Why?
This is because we are breaking and/or forming new bonds. We form a totally different substance.

Two students try to move a heavy box. One pushes with the force of the 20N while the other pulls with a force of 30N in the same
hichkok12 [17]

Answer:

Explanation:

Time is not part of the Work equation. That's the only conclusion that you can come to.

Work = Force * distance.

Not enough information is given to go any further. You don't have enough information to calculate the distance.

We don't know if the box can be moved or not. It says heavy. 50 N is really not very much.

I would guess that you are intended to answer that the box didn't move, but it's really hard to tell.

The velocity of a passenger relative to a boat is -vpb. The velocity of the boat relative to the river it is moving on is vbr. T
RideAnS [48]

Answer:

vps = vbr + vrs - vpb

Explanation:

 • If the passenger were at rest, his speed relative to the shore will be identical to the boat's, as follows:
 • vps = vbr + vrs
 • As he is moving in a direction opposite to the boat's, his velocity relative to the shore must be less than if he were at rest, in the same quantity that he was moving opposite to the boat, as follows:
 • vps = vbr+ vrs -vpb
