Laura and Elana are discussing how to solve the following problem: "A canary sits 10 m from the end of a 30-m-long clothesline,
horrorfan [7]

Answer:

f=2.236\ Hz

Explanation:

Given:

Length of a rope,l=30\ m

Position of Canary on the rope from one end, l_c=10\ m

Position of Grackle on the rope from another end, l_g=5\ m

Tension in the rope, F_T=200\ N

linear mass distribution on the rope, \mu=0.1\ kg.m^{-1}

We have for the speed of wave on the string:

v^2=\frac{F_T}{\mu}

v^2=\frac{200}{\0.1}

v=44.7\ m.s^{-1}

<em>For canary to be undisturbed we need a node at this location.</em>

<em>Also, at the end close to Canary there must be a node to avoid any change in pattern of vibration.</em>

So,

the distance between Canary and the closer end must be equal to half the wavelength.

\frac{\lambda}{2} =10\ m

\Rightarrow \lambda=20\ m

∴Wavelength of wave to be produced = 20 m. This will give us nodes at the multiples of 10 and anti-nodes at the multiples of 5.

Now, frequency:

f=\frac{v}{\lambda}

f=\frac{44.7}{20}

f=2.236\ Hz

car travels 80 meters due north in 12 seconds then the car turns around and travels 30 Mi do South in 4 seconds calculate the av
Zinaida [17]

Answer:

1) 3.1 m/s

2) 7 m/s

Explanation:

Distance due north = 80 m

Distance due south = 30 m

Distance between north and south = (80 - 30) m = 50 m

Total time = (12 + 4) sec = 16 sec

1) Average speed = 50/16 = 3.1 m/s

2) Average velocity = Total distance/total time = (80 + 30) m/16 s = 110/16 = 7 m/s

Why are images reflected from a rough surface not as clear as those reflected from a smooth
ioda

Answer:

Just as images are reflected from the surface of a mirror, light reflected from a smooth water surface also produced a clear image. ... Consequently, the outgoing rays are reflected at many different angles and the image is disrupted. Reflection from such a rough surface is called diffuse reflection and appears matte.

Answer:

For the first blank, the answer is decreases. For the second blank, the answer is increases. And finally for the third blank, the answer is decreases.

Explanation:

For the first blank, the answer is decreases. For the second blank, the answer is increases. And finally for the third blank, the answer is decreases.

When a liquid is cooled, the kinetic energy of the particles decreases. The force of attraction between the particles increases, the space between the particles decreases, and the matter changes its state to solid.
