Pot     conducts heat

Bin     Insulates from heat

Plate   Insulate from heat and brittle

Explanation:

Any material that is able to conduct heat is known as a conductor. Also, most heat conductors also allows electric current to pass through.

Most metals are categorized as heat conductors. A pot is usually made of conductors which helps to transfer heat to cook food.

Any material that does not conduct heat is called an insulator. Likewise, they do not allow electric current to pass through.

Most non-metals, plastics, rubber, wood, paper are insulators.

A brittle material that breaks into many pieces is a plastic. Their elastic limit is obviously exceeded and they lack internal cohesion and order. A glass used in making plate is also plastic and brittle.

For a damped simple harmonic oscillator, the block has a mass of 1.2 kg and the spring constant is 9.8 N/m. The damping force is
ArbitrLikvidat [17]

Answer:

a) t=24s

b) number of oscillations= 11

Explanation:

In case of a damped simple harmonic oscillator the equation of motion is

m(d²x/dt²)+b(dx/dt)+kx=0

Therefore on solving the above differential equation we get,

x(t)=A₀e^{\frac{-bt}{2m}}cos(w't+\phi)=A(t)cos(w't+\phi)

where A(t)=A₀e^{\frac{-bt}{2m}}

 A₀ is the amplitude at t=0 and

w' is the angular frequency of damped SHM, which is given by,

w'=\sqrt{\frac{k}{m}-\frac{b^{2}}{4m^{2}} }

Now coming to the problem,

Given: m=1.2 kg

           k=9.8 N/m

           b=210 g/s= 0.21 kg/s

           A₀=13 cm

a) A(t)=A₀/8

⇒A₀e^{\frac{-bt}{2m}} =A₀/8

⇒e^{\frac{bt}{2m}}=8

applying logarithm on both sides

⇒\frac{bt}{2m}=ln(8)

⇒t=\frac{2m*ln(8)}{b}

substituting the values

t=\frac{2*1.2*ln(8)}{0.21}=24s(approx)

b) w'=\sqrt{\frac{k}{m}-\frac{b^{2}}{4m^{2}} }

w'=\sqrt{\frac{9.8}{1.2}-\frac{0.21^{2}}{4*1.2^{2}}}=2.86s^{-1}

T'=\frac{2\pi}{w'}, where T' is time period of damped SHM

⇒T'=\frac{2\pi}{2.86}=2.2s

let n be number of oscillations made

then, nT'=t

⇒n=\frac{24}{2.2}=11(approx)

Match each label to the boundary it describes. convergent boundary new crust forms transform boundary crust submerges into the m
Paraphin [41]

The answers would be:

CONVERGENT boundary - Crust submerges into the mantle

TRANSFORM boundary - neither forms nor submerges

DIVERGENT boundary - new crust forms

If you'd like to know more about the different boundaries, read on:

Convergent boundaries occur when two plates move TOWARDS each other. The event where crust submerges into the mantle is called <em><u>subduction</u></em> and this occurs when an oceanic plate and a continental plate collide. The oceanic plate is more dense and thinner than the continental plate, so it slides under it.

Transform boundaries occur when two plates slide against each other. They move slide side by side, so nothing is formed nor do they go under each other. Although, this type of boundaries create strong earthquakes.

Lastly, divergent boundaries occur when two plates move apart. The separation creates a way for magma to come up. New crust is formed when the magma that seeps out is cooled by its cooler surroundings. This is observed in the mid oceanic ridge.

Calculate the average speed of a car which moves 200 km in 10 hours.
blondinia [14]

Answer:

Average speed  =  (total distance) / (total time)

Total distance  =  100 km + 200 km  =  300 km

Total time  =  2 hrs (first part) + 1/2 hr (stop) + 4 hrs (second part) = 6.5 hrs

Average speed  =  300 / 6.5  =  46.154 km/hr (rounded)
