Two children of mass 20 kg and 30 kg sit balanced on a seesaw with the pivot point located at the center of the seesaw. If the c

hildren are separated by a distance of 3 m, at what distance from the pivot point is the small child sitting in order to maintain the balance?

Answer:

Explanation:

Given

mass of first child m_1=20\ kg

mass of second child m_2=30\ kg

Distance between two children is d=3\ m

Suppose light weight child is placed at a distance of x m from Pivot point

therefore

Torque due to heavy child T_1=m_2g\times (3-x)

Torque due to small child T_2=m_1g\times x

Net Torque about Pivot must be zero

Therefore T_1=T_2

30\times g\times (3-x)=20\times g\times x

9-3x=2x

9=5x

x=\frac{9}{5}

x=1.8\ m

A car with mass m traveling at speed v has kinetic energy k. what is the kinetic energy of a second car that has the same mass m
vampirchik [111]
Kinetic energy, KE, is modeled by the formula KE = \frac{1}{2}mv^2, where m is the mass in kg and v is the velocity in m/s.

In this scenario, mass and one-half are constant but the velocity changes.

You can see that by squaring twice the velocity, that is equal to four times the original KE. Therefore, the answer is 4k.

Calculate the charge that flows through the cell in 1 minute. Each filament lamp has a power of 3 W and a resistance of 12 Ω
lapo4ka [179]

Answer:

24 Coulumbs

Explanation:

Given data

time= 1 minute= 6 seconds

P=2 W

R= 12 ohm

We know that

P= I^2R

P/R= I^2

2/12= I^2

I^2= 0.166

I= √0.166

I= 0.4 amps

We know also that

Q= It

substitute

Q= 0.4*60

Q= 24 Columbs

Hence the charge is 24 Coulumbs

Driving your Ferrari through the Italian countryside at a speedy 88 m/s, you approach an opera diva singing a high C (1,046 Hz).
MrRissso [65]

Answer:

You will hear the note E₆

Explanation:

We know that:

Your speed = 88m/s

Original frequency = 1,046 Hz

Sound speed = 340 m/s

The Doppler effect says that:

f' = \frac{v \pm v0 }{v \mp vs}*f

Where:

f = original frequency

f' = new frequency

v = velocity of the sound wave

v0 = your velocity

vs = velocity of the source, in this case, the source is the diva, we assume that she does not move, so vs = 0.

Replacing the values that we know in the equation we have:

f' = \frac{340 m/s + 88m/s}{340 m/s} *1,046 Hz = 1,316.73 Hz

This frequency is close to the note E₆ (1,318.5 Hz)
