Three cars (car F, car G, and car H) are moving with the same velocity when the driver suddenly slams on the brakes, locking the

wheels. The most massive car is car F, the least massive is car H, and all three cars have identical tires.(a) Which car travels the longest distance to skid to a stop?b) For which car does friction do the largest amount of work in stopping the car?

Answer:a.They all travel the same distance.

B. Car F

Explanation:

A. For the three cars, we have that

ƒ = μN and since

N = F(g) = mg,

therefore ƒ = μmg.

Considering Inertia as a property of matter which increases with linearly. The more massive a car is, the more inertia carrying it forward, but also the more friction required in trying to stop it, so the two will cancel out and all three cars will stop at same distance

B.For the three cars, we have that,

w = Fd.

The force acting on the cars as they move forward is friction,

therefore w = ƒd. Since ƒ = μN and N = F(g) = mg, then,

ƒ = μmg.

Combining friction equation with the work equation gives us

w = μmgd. As μ, g, and d will be constant between equations, the greatest work done by friction will come from the car with the greatest mass.

The ventilation fan of the bathroom has a volumetric flow rate of 1,640 L/s. If the air density is 1.28 kg/m3, calculate the mas
liq [111]

Answer:

7557120 kg/hour

Explanation:

Given data;

Volume of air in one second = 1640 L

Density of air = 1.28 kg/L

Mass of air in 1 hour =?

Since mass = density × volume

==> Mass of air in one second = 1.28 ×1640 = 2099.2 kg

==> Mass of air in one minute = 2099.2×60=125952 kg

==> Mass of air in one hour = 125952× 60 = 7557120 kg

So rate of flow of air is 7557120 kg/hour

Suppose that we use a heater to boil liquid nitrogen (N2 molecules). 4480 J of heat turns 20 g of liquid nitrogen into gas. Note
love history [14]

Answer:

The energy is 9.4\times10^{-21}\ J

(a) is correct option

Explanation:

Given that,

Energy = 4480 j

Weight of nitrogen = 20 g

Boil temperature = 77 K

Pressure = 1 atm

We need to calculate the internal energy

Using first law of thermodynamics

Q=\Delta U+W

Q=\Delta U+nRT

Put the value into the formula

4480=\Delta U+\dfrac{20}{28}\times8.314\times77

\Delta U=4480-\dfrac{20}{28}\times8.314\times77

\Delta U=4022.73\ J

We need to calculate the number of molecules in 20 g N₂

Using formula of number of molecules

N=n\times \text{Avogadro number}

Put the value into the formula

N=\dfrac{20}{28}\times6.02\times10^{23}

N=4.3\times10^{23}

We need to calculate the energy

Using formula of energy

E=\dfrac{\Delta U}{N}

Put the value into the formula

E=\dfrac{4022.73}{4.3\times10^{23}}

E=9.4\times10^{-21}\ J

Hence, The energy is 9.4\times10^{-21}\ J
