Consider this reaction: 6 CO2 + 6 H2O + light equation C6H12O6 + 6 O2 If there were 2.38 x 102 g of H2O, 18.6 moles of CO2, and
alisha [4.7K]

H₂O would be the limiting reactant.

Balanced chemical equation:

6CO₂ + 6H₂O + light equation → C₆H₁₂O₆ + 6O₂

The amount of product that can be created is constrained by the reactant that is consumed first in a chemical reaction, commonly referred to as the limiting reactant (or limiting reagent).

Given

No. of moles of CO₂ = 18.6

Mass of H₂O = 2.38 × 10² g = 238g

No. of moles of H₂O = Given mass/ Molar mass

                                = 238 / 18 = 13.22 moles

Moles of H₂O = 13.22

According to the balanced chemical equation

6 moles of CO₂ react with 6 moles of H₂O

So the reactant that has less number of moles will be consumed first.

As the No. of moles of H₂O < No. of moles of CO₂

So, H₂O is the limiting reactant with 13.22 moles.

Hence, H₂O would be the limiting reactant.

olga nikolaevna [1]

Grady is doing an experiment about the solubility of sugar. He puts 100 milliliters of water in each of three beakers. He leaves the first beaker at room temperature, heats the second beaker to 60°C, and heats the third beaker until the water boils at 100°C. The variable Grady change on  purpose in the experiment is the temperature of water in each beaker .

Variables in the experiment is the any factor that can exist in different types or amount. There are three types of variables: independent variable , dependent variable , controlled variable. The independent variable is the variable you changed in the experiment. dependent variable is that changes because of independent variable. the controlled variable is the constant one.

Thus, Grady is doing an experiment about the solubility of sugar. He puts 100 milliliters of water in each of three beakers. He leaves the first beaker at room temperature, heats the second beaker to 60°C, and heats the third beaker until the water boils at 100°C. The variable Grady change on  purpose in the experiment is the temperature of water in each beaker .

Ammonia and oxygen react to form nitrogen monoxide and water. Construct your own balanced equation to determine the amount of NO
stiv31 [10]

Answer:

NO would form 65.7 g.

H₂O would form 59.13 g.

Explanation:

Given data:

Moles of NH₃ = 2.19

Moles of O₂ = 4.93

Mass of NO produced = ?

Mass of  produced H₂O = ?

Solution:

First of all we will write the balance chemical equation,

4NH₃ + 5O₂   →   4NO + 6H₂O

Now we will compare the moles of NO and H₂O with ammonia from balanced chemical equation:

NH₃  :   NO                                   NH₃  :   H₂O

4     :    4                                          4    :      6

2.19   :    2.19                                 2.19  : 6/4 × 2.19 = 3.285 mol

Now we will compare the moles of NO and H₂O with oxygen from balanced chemical equation:

O₂  :   NO                                               O₂ :   H₂O

5     :    4                                                  5     :    6

4.93   :   4/5×4.93 = 3.944 mol               4.93  : 6/5 × 4.93 = 5.916 mol

we can see that moles of water and nitrogen monoxide produced from the ammonia are less, so ammonia will be limiting reactant and will limit the product yield.

Mass of water = number of  moles × molar mass

Mass of water = 3.285 mol × 18 g/mol

Mass of water = 59.13 g

Mass of nitrogen monoxide  = number of  moles × molar mass

Mass of nitrogen monoxide = 2.19 mol × 30 g/mol

Mass of nitrogen monoxide = 65.7 g
