You stand on a straight desert road at night and observe a vehicle approaching. This vehicle is equipped with two small headligh

ts that are 0.659 m apart. At what distance, in kilometers, are you marginally able to discern that there are two headlights rather than a single light source? Take the wavelength of the light to be 545 nm and your pupil diameter to be 4.69 mm.

For a circular aperture, the first minima (n=1) as an angular separation from the peak of the central maxima given by

Sinθ = 1.22λ / d

Where,

d is the aperture or pupil diameter

d = 4.69 mm = 4.69 × 10^-3m

λ is the wavelength

λ = 545 nm = 545 × 10^-9 m

Then,

Sinθ = 1.22λ / d

Sinθ = 1.22 × 545 × 10^-9 / 4.69 × 10^-3

Sinθ = 1.418 × 10^-4 rad

Then, the head light sources have the same angular separation θ from the eye as the image have inside the eye.

For the headlight

Sinθ ≈ light separation / distantce for the eye

Light separation is give as x = 0.659 m

And let the distance of the eye be D

Then,

Sinθ = x / D

Make D subject of formula

D = x / Sinθ

D = 0.695 / 1.418 × 10^-4

D = 4902.316m

To km, 1km = 1000m

D ≈ 4.9 km

You are in a planet where the acceleration due to gravity is known to be 3.28 m/s^2. You drop a ball and record that the ball ta
notsponge [240]
B) 7.87 m/s

The gravitational pull is the rate of change of velocity which is the acceleration. Formula for acceleration is;
a = \frac{final \: velocity - initial \: velocity}{time \: taken}

Given:

• Initial velocity = 0m/s; I dropped the ball, and didn't throw it, so it was at rest firstly
• Time taken = 2.40s
• Acceleration = 3.28m/s^2

We're require to find the final velocity, at which the ball hit the ground with. Ignoring air resistance, keep in mind that the velocity of an object increases as it comes closer to the ground.

3.28 = \frac{final \: velocity - 0}{2.40}
3.28 \times 2.40 = final \: velocity
final \: velocity = 7.872 \frac{m}{ {s} }

A triangular plate with a non-uniform areal density has a mass M=0.500 kg. It is suspended by a pivot at P and can oscillate as
malfutka [58]

The period of the oscillations.T = 1.2042s

Opposition is the process of any quantity or measure fluctuating repeatedly about its equilibrium value throughout time. This process is referred to as oscillation. Oscillation, a periodic fluctuation of a substance, can also be described as alternating between two values or rotating around a central value.

Typically, the mathematical formula for the moment of inertia is

T = 2 π √(I / mgd)

Therefore, a moment of inertia

I = 9.00×10-3 + md^2 ;

I=9.00*10^{-3}+ 0.5 * 0.3^2

I=0.054

T=2\pi \sqrt{0.5*9.8*0.3}

T=1.2042s

The period of the oscillations.T = 1.2042s

The coefficient of static friction between a 3.00 kg crate and the 35.0o incline is 0.300. What minimum force F must be applied
Yakvenalex [24]

Answer:

So the minimum force is

32.2Newton

Explanation:

To solve for the minimum force, let us assume it to be F (N)

So

F=mgsinA

But

=>>>> coefficient of static friction x (F + mgcosA

=>3 x 9.8 x sin35 = 0.3 x (F + 3 x 9.8 x cos35)

So making F subject of formula

F + 24.0 = 56.2

F = 32.2N

A sample of helium gas has a volume of 900. milliliters and a pressure of 2.50 atm at 298 K. What is the new pressure when the t
Sladkaya [172]

Answer:

The new pressure = 5.64 atm.

Explanation:

Using The general gas equation,

P₁V₁/T₁ = P₂V₂/T₂..................... Equation 1

making P₂ the subject of the equation

P₂ = P₁V₁T₂/V₂T₁ ...................... Equation 2

Where P₁ = initial pressure, V₁ = initial Volume, T₁ = Initial temperature, P₂ = final pressure, V₂ = final volume, T₂ = final Temperature.

Given: P ₁= 2.5 atm, T₁ = 298 K, V₁= 900 milliliters, T ₂= 336 K, V₂ = 450 milliliters

Substituting these values into equation 2,

P₂ = (2.5×900×336)/(298×450)

P₂ = 756000/134100

P₂ = 5.64 atm.

Thus the new pressure = 5.64 atm.
