Answer:

0.67 g

Explanation:

Data given

water (H₂O) = 6 g

Mass of Hydrogen = ?

Electrolysis of water

                    2H₂O --------> 2H₂ + O₂

Solution:

In hydrolysis of water the water molecule splits in hydrogen and oxygen

                     2H₂O --------> 2H₂ + O₂

So, we know from reaction that 2 mole of water molecule splits in 2 mole of hydrogen and 1 mole of oxygen

                     2H₂O --------> 2H₂ + O₂

                     2mol              2 mol

If we represent mol in grams

Then,

Molar mass of water (H₂O) = 2(1) + 16

Molar mass of water (H₂O) = 18 g/mol

                    2H₂O        --------> 2H₂ + O₂

             2 mol (18 g/mol)         2 mol (2 g/mol)

                      2H₂O  --------> 2H₂ + O₂

                        36 g              4 g

It is obvious from the reaction that 36 g of water give 4 g of hydrogen on electrolysis.

Then how many grams of hydrogen will produce if 6 grams of water electrolyzed

apply unity formula

                      36 g of H₂O ≅ 4 g of H₂

                       6 g of H₂O ≅ x g of H₂

By doing cross multiplication

                         g of H₂ = 4 x 6 / 36

                          g of H₂ = 0.67 g

0.67 g of hydrogen will produce if 6 grams of water is electrolyzed

What are the products of the following combustion reaction?

2C2H2(g) + 5O2(g) →
kakasveta [241]
A combustion reaction of an will generally produce CO2 and H20 -- carbon dioxide and water and/or an oxide

looking at the combustion material C2H2, you know that the end products will be CO2 and H20, so the question is how much of each will you get

well, look at the total amount of carbon atoms, 2 C2, which means a total of 4 carbon atoms in this reaction, since only CO2 has carbon atoms, that means there must be 4 CO2 as an end product and 4 CO2 will use up 4 of 5 O2 molecule leaving only 1 O2 molecule for the H2 reaction.

now O2 has a total of 2 oxygen molecules whereas H20 has only a single oxygen molecule, hence the end product must have 2 H20

check that the H atoms balance out on both sides

What element in the second period has the largest atomic radius?
Allushta [10]

Answer:

Na is the element from the second period that has the largest atomic radius

Explanation:

The atomic radius is a chemist property from the periodic table. It is decreased when we move in a period from the periodic, so the element in the second period that has the largest radius is Na, and the shortest, the Ar

The atomic radius indicates the distance between the nucleus and the outermost valence layer. In the periods it decreases with increasing Atomic Number, to the right, due to the attraction that the nucleus exerts on the electrons of the outermost orbitals, thus decreasing the core-electron distance.

If a flask maintained at 674 K contains 0.138 moles of NH4I(s) in equilibrium with 4.34×10-2 M NH3(g) and 9.39×10-2 M HI(g), wha
r-ruslan [8.4K]

Answer:

K = 4.07x10⁻³

Explanation:

Based on the reaction:

NH₄I(s) ⇄ NH₃(g) + HI(g)

You can define K of equilibrium as the ratio of concentrations of reactants and products, thus:

K = [NH₃] [HI] / [NH₄I]

But, as NH₄I is a solid, is not taken into account in the equilibrium, that means K expression is:

K = [NH₃] [HI]

As the concentrations in equilibrium of the gases is:

[NH₃] = 4.34x10⁻²M

[HI] = 9.39x10⁻²M

Equilibrium constant, K, is:

K = 4.34x10⁻²M * 9.39x10⁻²M

K = 4.07x10⁻³
