Substitute the value 26.7 (or the exact value of 80/3) for x in the first of the original equation (x + y = 40) to find the valu

e of y. Once you have found the value of y using the first of the original equation, you can substitute this value of y and the value of x (26.7) into the second of the original equation (0.75x + 1.5y = 40) to check your work. If the values that you find on the two sides of the equal sign are not equal, then you must recheck your work.

Complete Question

The complete question is shown on the first uploaded image

Answer:

the value of  y = 13.3

Explanation:

From the question we are told that

       The equation is  (x + y = 40)

        The first value of x is  x_1 =  26.7

        The second equation is  (0.75x + 1.5y = 40)

So  substituting x_1

     26.7 + y  =  40

=>   y = 13.3

Now substituting y and x_1 into second equation

       0.75(26.7) +  (1.5* 13.3) =  40

=>  40 = 40

So  y = 13.3

A rock is dropped from a 134-m-high cliff. how long does it take to fall (a) the first 67.0 m and (b) the second 67.0 m?
____ [38]

A rock is dropped from a 100-m-high cliff. How long do the first 50 meters and the second 50 meters take to fall?

(a) The first 50 meters:

h1 = 0.5 x a x t12

50 m = 0.5% x 9.8% x t12

t1 = 3.19 s

50 meter fall time equals 3.19 seconds.

(a) Counting all 100 meters:

h2 = 0.5 x a x t22

100 m = 0.5% x 9.8% x t22

t2 = 4.52 s

Time to fall 50 meters is equal to t2 - t1 = 1.33 s.

What is meter?

The Earth's circumference is around 40000 km, according to the original definition of the metre in 1793, which was one ten-millionth of the distance between the equator and the North Pole on a great circle. The metre was redefined in 1799 using a model metre bar (the actual bar used was changed in 1889). The definition of the metre in terms of a certain number of wavelengths of a specific krypton-86 emission line was made in 1960.

What provided evidence for the revolution of earth around the sun?.
Alika [10]

Explanation:

there are many things. I am not sure what your teacher told you.

one of the first strange observations leading to this conclusion was the "loop-di-loop" in the track of Mars. because of the different orbits of Earth and Mars, sometimes one (particularly Earth as the faster one) swings around the sun in relation to the other, and with that first moves away and suddenly moves closer again, making the track of Mars appear on Earth as if it would make a loop in the sky.
