Formula used for determining the molarity is:

Molarity = \frac{number of moles of solute}{volume of solution in Liters)}  -(1)

Number of moles of solute that is C_{20}H_{42} is determined as:

number of moles = \frac{given weight}{Molar mass}  -(2)

Mass of the solute can be calculated as:

Density = \frac{mass}{volume}

mass = density\times volume - (3)

density of rain water = 1.00 g/mL (given)

Concentration of C_{20}H_{42} = 0.2 ppb (given)

Since, 1 ppb = 10^{-3} mg/L

So, 0.2 ppb = 0.2\times 10^{-3} mg/L = 2\times 10^{-4} mg/L

Substituting the values in formula (3):

Mass = 2\times 10^{-4} mg = 2\times 10^{-7} g      (As 1 mg = 10^{-3} g).

Now, substituting the values of mass and formula mass in formula (2):

Number of moles = \frac{2\times 10^{-7}}{282.56} = 7.078\times 10^{-10} mole

Volume of solution = 1 L

Substituting the values of number of moles and volume of solution in formula (1):

Molarity = \frac{7.078\times 10^{-10} mole}{1 L} = 7.078\times 10^{-10} M

Why oxygen gas is very easy to compress when pressure is applied?
babunello [35]

Answer:

Gases can be compressed easily because there is a large amount of space between the individual molecules, which are very active and move around at high speed.

Explanation:

When gas is compressed, the particles are forced much closer together, allowing a huge amount of particles to fit in a small space.

Answer:

Q1) Distillation relies on evaporation to purify water

Explanation:

contaminated water is heated to form steam. inorganic compounds and large non-volatile organic molecules do not evaporate with the water and are left behind. The steam then cools and condenses to form purified water

When a forest burns and all that's left is some ash,
dalvyx [7]

Answer:

C₆H₁₂O₆(s) + 6O₂(g) → 6CO₂(g) + H₂O

Explanation:

When a forest burns and all that's left is some ash,  most of the mass of the trees go to the atmosphere, in the form of carbon dioxide.

In a total combustion process of organic matter,<em> the two molecules produced are carbon dioxide and water. </em>(CO₂ and H₂O)

The equation for the combustion of glucose is:

C₆H₁₂O₆(s) + 6O₂(g) → 6CO₂(g) + H₂O

The reaction, 2C4H10 (g) + 13O2 (g) à 8CO2 (g) + 5H2O (g), is the combustion of butane. What occurs as the reaction proceeds?
Solnce55 [7]
The reaction, 2 C4H10 (g) + 13 O2 (g) = 8 CO2 (g) + 5 H2O (g), is the combustion of butane.   A combustion reaction involves the reaction of a hydrocarbon with oxygen producing carbon dioxide and water. This reaction is exothermic which means it releases energy in the form of heat. Therefore, as the reaction proceeds,a heat energy is being given off by the reaction. This happens because the total kinetic energy of the reactants is greater than the total kinetic energy of the products. So, the excess energy should be given off somewhere which in this case is released as heat.
