Explanation:

According to Faraday's law, the amount of a substance deposited or liberated in electrolysis process is proportional to the quantity of electric charge passed and to the equivalent weight of the substance.

Formula to calculate the mass of substance liberated according to Faraday's law is as follows.

             m = (\frac{Q}{F})(\frac{M}{Z})

where,          m = mass of substance liberated at electrode

                     Q = electric charge passing through the substance

                     F = Faraday constant = 96,487 C mol^{-1}

                     M = molar mass of the substance

                     Z = valency number of ions of the substance

Since, it is given that mass is 3 kg or 3000 g (as 1 kg = 1000 g), molar mass of Al is 27, Z is 3.

Therefore, putting the values in the above formula as follows.

                      m = (\frac{Q}{F})(\frac{M}{Z})

                     3000 g = (\frac{Q}{96,487 C mol^{-1}})(\frac{27}{3})

                        Q = 32162333.33 C

As it is given that V = 4.50 Volt. Also, it is known that

                       Energy = V \times Q

Therefore, calculate the energy as follows.

                      Energy = V \times Q

                                   = 4.50 V \times 32162333.33 C

                                   = 144730500 J

As it is known that 3.6 \times 10^{6} J = 1 KW Hr

So, convert 144730500 J into KW Hr as follows.

                   \frac{144730500 J \times 1 KW Hr}{3600000 J}

                          = 40.202 KW Hr

Thus, we can conclude that the number of kilowatt-hours of electricity required to produce 3.00 kg of aluminum from electrolysis of compounds from bauxite is 40.202 KW Hr when the applied emf is 4.50V.

Please help me outttt
leonid [27]

Answer:

4.) 9, 1, and 4    5.) 4, 1, and 4

Explanation:

I am not quite sure about this because I cannot remember if the coefficient (the number before the elements) is applied to every element in the compound. If it is then your number of atoms are as follows: CORRECTION: you do not have to apply the coefficient to every element only the one that is after it. So when you back and fix the error your number of atoms will be as follows:

number 4

H: 9

P: 1

O: 4

number 5:

H: 4

S: 1

O: 4

you can calculate the number of atoms present in this compound by multiplying the coefficient and the subscripts of each atom.

hope this helped you :)

A student is determining the density of an unknown metal with a mass of 32.56 g. The student partially fills a graduated cylinde
xenn [34]

Answer:

The metal is Tin (Sn)

Explanation:

The following data were obtained from the question:

Mass of metal = 32.56 g

Volume of water = 14.78 mL

Volume of water + metal = 20.44 mL

Next, we shall determine the volume of the metal. This is illustrated below:

Volume of water = 14.78 mL

Volume of water + metal = 20.44 mL

Volume of metal =..?

Volume of metal = (Volume of water + metal) – (Volume of water )

Volume of metal = 20.44 – 14.78

Volume of metal = 5.66mL

Next, we shall determine the density of the metal.

Density of a substance is defined as the mass of the substance per unit volume of the substance. Mathematically, the density of a substance is expressed as:

Density = Mass / volume

With the above formula, we can obtain the density of the metal as follow:

Mass of metal = 32.56 g

Volume of metal = 5.66mL

Density =.?

Density = Mass /volume

Density = 32.56g/5.66mL

Density of the metal = 5.75g/mL

Comparing the density of the metal with standard density of elements, the metal is Tin (Sn)
