A person on a sled coasts down a hill and then goes over a slight rise with speed 2.7 m/s. The top of this rise can be modeled a

s a circle of radius 4.1 m. The sled and occupant have a combined mass of 110 kg. If the coefficient of kinetic friction between the snow and the sled is 0.10, what friction force is exerted on the sled by the snow as the sled goes over the top of the rise?

Answer:

The friction force exerted on the sled by the snow is 88.2 N.

Explanation:

Given that,

Speed = 2.7 m/s

Radius = 4.1 m

Combined mass = 110 kg

Coefficient of kinetic friction = 0.10

We need to calculate the normal force

Using newton second law on combine mass

mg-N=\dfrac{mv^2}{r}

N=mg-\dfrac{mv^2}{r}

N=m(g-\dfrac{v^2}{r})

Put the value into the formula

N=110\times(9.8-\dfrac{(2.7)^2}{4.1})

N=882.41\ N

We need to calculate the friction force is exerted on the sled by the snow

Using formula of frictional force

f=\mu N

Put the value into the formula

f=0.10\times882.41

f=88.2\ N

Hence, The friction force exerted on the sled by the snow is 88.2 N.

A long thin uniform rod of length 1.50 m is to be suspended from a frictionless pivot located at some point along the rod so tha
Dvinal [7]

Answer:

0.087 m

Explanation:

Length of the rod, L = 1.5 m

Let the mass of the rod is m and d is the distance between the pivot point and the centre of mass.

time period, T = 3  s

the formula for the time period of the pendulum is given by

T = 2\pi \sqrt{\frac{I}{mgd}}    .... (1)

where, I is the moment of inertia of the rod about the pivot point and g is the acceleration due to gravity.

Moment of inertia of the rod about the centre of mass, Ic = mL²/12

By using the parallel axis theorem, the moment of inertia of the rod about the pivot is

I = Ic + md²

I = \frac{mL^{2}}{12}+ md^{2}

Substituting the values in equation (1)

3 = 2 \pi \sqrt{\frac{\frac{mL^{2}}{12}+ md^{2}}{mgd}}

9=4\pi^{2}\times \left ( \frac{\frac{L^{2}}{12}+d^{2}}{gd} \right )

12d² -26.84 d + 2.25 =  0

d=\frac{26.84\pm \sqrt{26.84^{2}-4\times 12\times 2.25}}{24}

d=\frac{26.84\pm 24.75}{24}

d = 2.15 m , 0.087 m

d cannot be more than L/2, so the value of d is 0.087 m.

Thus, the distance between the pivot and the centre of mass of the rod is 0.087 m.

What caused magnetic fields? What happens If you keep breaking a magnet in two until you reach a single atom?
mote1985 [20]

magnetic materials will produce magnetic field near it

All magnets are made up of small magnet type atoms which are known as domains

These all atoms will align itself so that they all produce strong magnetic field along the axis

this magnetic field will become more strong as more number of atoms are aligned.

Now if we break the magnet into small piece then the magnetic field strength will start decreasing and at the end when only one atom will remain then the magnetic field strength will reduce to the field of one atom only.

Answer:1). Distance of far point x=0.9m

Therefore, since the image is virtual

a place that is typically cold because of an increase in altitude would most likely have what type of climate? dry climate mild
Marta_Voda [28]
A place that is cold because of an increase in altitude has a mountain area climate or simply, mountain climate. An area that is high in altitude typically has a colder temperature because of the increased amount of rainfall they have. Also, air tends to cool as it rises in temperature.
