In a calorimetry experiment, it was determined that a 92.0 gram piece of copper metal released 1860 J of heat to the surrounding

water in the calorimeter (qcopper = −1860 J). If the final temperature of the copper metal-water mixture was 25.00°C, what was the initial temperature of the copper metal? The specific heat of copper is 0.377 J/(g°C). Group of answer choices Tinitial = 28.6°C Tinitial = −28.6°C Tinitial = 78.6°C Tinitial = 92.6°C Tinitial = 53.6°C

Answer:

Tinitial = 78.6°C

Explanation:

In a calorimetry experiment, the flow heat is measured for a system that has a state change. In this case, there isn't happening a physical change, so the heat is called sensitive heat, and it's calculated by:

q = mxCpxΔT

Where q is the heat, m is the mass, Cp is the specific heat and ΔT is the difference of final and initial temperature (Tfinal - Tinitial).

Copper is losing heat, so q is negative, then:

-1860 = 92x0.377x(25 - Ti)

34.684(25 - Ti) = -1860

25 - Ti = -53.63

-Ti = -78.63

Ti = 78.6ºC

Hydrocarbons, compounds containing only carbon and hydrogen, are important in fuels.The heat of combustion of cyclopentane, C5H1
shtirl [24]

Answer : The balanced equation for the complete combustion of cyclopentane will be :

2C_5H_{10}+15O_2\rightarrow 10CO_2+10H_2O

Explanation :

As we know that the hydrocarbons can undergo complete or incomplete combustion that depends on the amount of oxygen available.

Complete combustion : It takes place when there is a good supply of oxygen. In this, hydrocarbon react with the oxygen to give carbon dioxide and water as a product.

The general reaction will be :

\text{Hydrocarbon}+O_2\rightarrow CO_2+H_2O

Incomplete combustion : It takes place when there is a poor supply of oxygen. In this, hydrocarbon react with the oxygen to give carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and water as a product.

The general reaction will be :

\text{Hydrocarbon}+O_2\text{(limited)}\rightarrow CO+CO_2+H_2O

As per question, the complete combustion of cyclopentane react with oxygen to gives carbon dioxide and water as a product.

Therefore, the balanced chemical reaction will be :

2C_5H_{10}+15O_2\rightarrow 10CO_2+10H_2O

How many milliliters of a solution of 8.8M CaBr2 are needed to prepare 175 mL of a 2.2M solution?
patriot [66]

The product of molarity and volume of any substance at a fixed temperature is constant. Therefore comparing two portions of different molarity, we can say that, M₁V₁=M₂V₂

M represents the molarity, V represents volume of the solution.

M₁ in the question is 8.8M

M₂ is 2.2M

V₁=?

V₂= 175

therefore,

8.8ₓV₁= 2.2ₓ175ml

V₁=(2.2ₓ175ml)/8.8

=43.75 ml
