32.02 grams/mole is the molar mass of the gas.

Explanation:

Data given about the gas:

sample of the gas = 64 grams

volume of the gas = 37.6 L

temperature of the gas = 275K

pressure of the gas = 1.2 atm

R = 0.0821 atm l/mole K

molar mass=?

The data provided will be used to know the molar mass by using ideal gas law equation:

PV = nRT    (n = \frac{mass}{molar mass}

putting the values in the equation:

n = \frac{PV}{RT}

Putting the value of n and then writing the equation:

\frac{mass}{molar mass} = \frac{PV}{RT}

putting the values in the equation

molar mass = \frac{64 X 0.0821 X 275}{37.6 X 1.2}

                    = 32.02 grams/mole

The molar mass of the gas sample is 32 g/mol.

Explanation:

Using the ideal gas law, we can determine the number of molecules present in the volume given,

PV = nRT\\\\n = \frac{PV}{RT}

Here, Pressure P is given as 1.2 atm, the volume V is given as 37.6 L and temperature is given as 275 K with the gas constant as 0.082 L atm mol⁻¹ K⁻¹.

n = \frac{1.2*37.6}{275*0.082} = \frac{45.12}{22.55} =2

So, the 2 moles of gas is present in 64 g of gas sample. Thus, as molar mass is found by the ratio of mass of the sample to its amount of moles present in the sample, the molar mass can be found as below.

Molar mass = \frac{Mass}{No.of moles} = \frac{64}{2} = 32 g/mol

So, the molar mass of the gas sample is 32 g/mol.

What is the velocity of a wave traveling north with a frequency of 75 hertz and a wavelength of
Vanyuwa [196]

Answer:

v = 450 m/s

Explanation:

Given data:

Frequency = 75 Hz

Wavelength = 6 m

Velocity = ?

Solution:

Velocity is the product of frequency and wavelength.

v = f × λ

v = 75 Hz ×  6 m

Hz = s⁻¹

v = 75  s⁻¹  ×  6 m

v = 450 m/s

Thorium-234 has a half-life of 24.1 days. How many grams of a 150 g sample would you have after 120.5 days?
chubhunter [2.5K]

Answer:

8.625 grams of a 150 g sample of Thorium-234  would be left after 120.5 days

Explanation:

The nuclear half life represents the time taken for the initial amount of sample  to reduce into half of its mass.

We have given that the half life of thorium-234 is 24.1 days. Then it takes 24.1 days for a Thorium-234 sample to reduced to half of its initial amount.

Initial amount of Thorium-234 available as per the question is 150 grams

So now  we start with 150 grams  of Thorium-234

150 \times \frac{1}{2}=24.1

75 \times \frac{1}{2} =48.2

34.5 \times \frac{1}{2} =72.3

17.25 \times \frac{1}{2} =96.4

8.625\times \frac{1}{2} =120.5

So after 120.5 days the amount of sample that remains is 8.625g

In simpler way , we can use the below formula to find the sample left

A=A_{0} \cdot \frac{1}{2^{n}}

Where

A_0  is the initial sample amount

n = the number of half-lives that pass in a given period of time.

A mixture of helium, nitrogen and oxygen has a total pressure of 821 mmHg. The partial pressure of helium is 105 mmHg, and the p
skad [1K]

Answer:

Total partial pressure, Pt = 821 mm Hg

Partial pressure of Helium, P1 = 105 mm Hg

Partial pressure of Nitrogen, P2 = 312 mm Hg

Partial pressure of Oxygen, P3 = ? mm Hg

According to Dalton's law of Partial pressures,

Pt = P1 + P2 + P3

So, <u>P3 = 404 mm Hg</u>
