. A 650-kg elevator starts from rest. It moves upward for 3.00 s with constant acceleration until it reaches its cruising speed

of 1.75 m/s.
(a) What is the average power of the elevator motor during this time interval?
(b) How does this power compare with the motor power when the elevator moves at its cruising speed?

Answer:

(a). The average power of the elevator motor during this time interval is 5903.6 W.

(b).  The power input from motor is 1.115\times10^{4}\ W

Explanation:

Given that,

Mass of elevator = 650 kg

Time = 3.00 sec

Speed of the elevator = 1.75 m/s

We need to calculate the acceleration of elevator

Using formula of acceleration

a = \dfrac{v_{f}-v_{i}}{t}

a=\dfrac{1.75}{3.00}

a=0.58\ m/s^2

(a). We need to calculate the net force on elevator is

Using formula of force

T=mg+ma

T=m(g+a)

T=650(9.8+0.58)

T=6747\ N

We need to calculate average velocity

Using formula of average velocity

v'=\dfrac{v_{f}+v_{i}}{2}

v'=\dfrac{1.75}{2}

v'=0.875\ m/s

We need to calculate the average power

Using formula of power

P=T\times v'

P=6747\times0.875

P=5903.6\ W

(b). We need to calculate the power input from motor

Using formula of power

P=F\times v

P=mg\times v

P=650\times9.8\times1.75

P=1.115\times10^{4}\ W

Hence, (a). The average power of the elevator motor during this time interval is 5903.6 W.

(b).  The power input from motor is 1.115\times10^{4}\ W

By what factor must the amplitude of a sound wave be increased in order to increase the intensity by a factor of 9?a. 9 b. 2 c.
Marta_Voda [28]

Answer:

option D

Explanation:

given,

intensity\ \alpha \ (Amplitude)^2

increase the intensity by factor of 9

    I₁ = I₀

    I₂ = 9 I₀

now,

\dfrac{I_1}{I_2}=\dfrac{A_1^2}{A_2^2}

\dfrac{I_0}{9I_0}=(\dfrac{A_1}{A_2})^2

(\dfrac{A_1}{A_2})^2=\dfrac{1}{9}

\dfrac{A_1}{A_2}=\dfrac{1}{3}

      A₂ = 3 A₁

hence, amplitude increase with the factor of 3

so, the correct answer is option D

Homer Agin leads the Varsity team in home runs. In a recent game, Homer hit a 34.5 m/s sinking curve ball head on, sending it of
Aneli [31]

Answer:

–77867 m/s/s.

Explanation:

From the question given above, the following data were obtained:

Initial velocity (u) = 34.5 m/s

Final velocity (v) = –23.9 m/s

Time (t) = 0.00075 s

Acceleration (a) =?

Acceleration is simply defined as the rate of change of velocity with time. Mathematically, it is expressed as:

Acceleration = (final velocity – Initial velocity) /time

a = (v – u) / t

With the above formula, we can obtain acceleration of the ball as follow:

Initial velocity (u) = 34.5 m/s

Final velocity (v) = –23.9 m/s

Time (t) = 0.00075 s

Acceleration (a) =?

a = (v – u) / t

a = (–23.9 – 34.5) / 0.00075

a = –58.4 / 0.00075

a = –77867 m/s/s

Thus, the acceleration of the ball is –77867 m/s/s.

Pitch marks are the invitations left by the ball when they fall on the green
Kipish [7]
You can mark, lift and clean a ball on the green, but it's a violation to do so when another ball is in motion, as your ball might influence the outcome of that stroke. You can also mark and clean your ball in some instances when it's off the green: cleaning it, for example, just to the point where you can identify it.
