Speed is a SCALAR quantity and velocity is a VECTOR quantity.
VECTOR quantities have size and direction.
The two objects on the right have the same MAGNITUDE, but different VELOCITIES because they’re going in different directions.
This is shown by the MINUS sign.
Acceleration is a change in speed, so it is a SCALAR quantity.
Acceleration in the same direction as an object moving in that direction will make that object SPEED UP.
Acceleration in the opposite direction will make an object SLOW DOWN or DECELERATE.
An acceleration of ZERO will not change the velocity of an object.
Hope that helps. :)

A radio-controlled car increases its kinetic energy from 4 j to 12 j over a distance of 2 m. what was the average net force on t
just olya [345]
The answer to this is easy once you look at the units for Joules. 1 Joule = 1 N.m (Newton.meter). The 'Newton' is the units of force that we are trying to find, and we know the meters is 2, from the question. So you have an 8Joule or 8N.m energy difference over 2 meters.

well if we know the meters, then the real question is written as:
8N.m = ?N x 2m
so just solve for N;
N = 8N.m / 2m = 4
So F = 4N

Bits of paper are attracted to an electrified comb or rod, even though they have nonet charge. How is this possible?
SashulF [63]

Explanation:

An electrified comb is charged comb ( let say by running it through the hair) and when it is brought in the proximity of  pieces of paper, the pieces tend to cling to it. This happens because the charged comb induces an opposite charge in the paper pieces and as opposite charges attract each other, the pieces are clinged.
