You perform a double‑slit experiment in order to measure the wavelength of the new laser that you received for your birthday. Yo

u set your slit spacing at 1.17 mm and place your screen 8.95 m from the slits. Then, you illuminate the slits with your new toy and find on the screen that the tenth bright fringe is 4.57 cm away from the central bright fringe (counted as the zeroth bright fringe). What is your laser's wavelength λ expressed in nanometers?

Answer:

laser's wavelength λ = 597.4 nm

Explanation:

Given:

Slit spacing, d = 1.17mm

Tenth bright fringe y = 4.57cm

Distance from slits, D = 8.95m

n = 10

λ = (d * y) / (D * n)

λ = (1.17x10⁻³ * 4.57x10⁻²) / (8.95 x 10)

λ = 5.3469‬x10⁻⁵ / 8.95x10¹

λ = 0.5974 x 10⁻⁵⁻¹

λ = 0.5974 x 10⁻⁶ m

λ = 597.4 x 10⁻⁹ m

λ = 597.4 nm

Atomic nuclei are made of protons and neutrons. This fact by itself shows thatthere must be some other type of force in addition
Stells [14]

Protons and neutrons are packed together in a very small region called nucleus. Protons are positively charged and we know that like charges repel. Then how is it that protons are not repelling each other and flying away from nucleus?

You may think that gravitational force is holding all the protons together but it is not so. Gravitational force is many times weaker than repulsive force.

It is actually strong force which holds proton together. At this short distance, strong force comes into play and is several times stronger than the repulsive force.

What is the mass of an object that is accelerated at 25 m/s2 by a force of 135 N?
yKpoI14uk [10]

Answer:

<h3>The answer is 5.4 kg</h3>

Explanation:

The mass of the object can be found by using the formula

m =  \frac{f}{a}  \\

f is the force

a is the acceleration

From the question we have

m =  \frac{135}{25}   =  \frac{27}{5} \\

We have the final answer as

<h3>5.4 kg</h3>

Hope this helps you

A sodium atom will absorb light with a wavelength near 589 nm if the light is within 10 MHz of the resonant frequency. The atomi
Troyanec [42]

Answer:

i)20369 photons

ii) 40 ps

Explanation:

Momentum of one Sodium atom:

P=m*v =600m/s*23amu*\frac{1 kg}{6.02*10^{23}amu}\\P=2.29*10^{-23}kgm/s

In other to stop it, it must absorb the same momentum in photons:

P=2.29*10^{-23}kgm/s=n_{photons}*\frac{h_{planck}}{\lambda}\\=n*\frac{6.63*10^{-34}}{589*10^{-9}} \\==>n=20369 photons

Now, for the minimun time, we use the speed of light and the wavelength. For the n photons:

t=n*T=n*\frac{\lambda}{c} =20369*\frac{589nm}{3*10^{8}m/s}=4*10^{-11} second=40 ps
