3. It is a mixture. 14-karat gold is an alloy of gold and other metals such as copper and silver. Pure gold is referred to as 24-karat gold. For example, Propane is a chemical substance so it is a pure substance.

4. Basically, atoms and elements are the same thing. Atoms are the smallest components of matter, consisting of a nucleus containing combinations of neutrons and protons. The element, Hydrogen, is made from atoms containing just one proton and one electron.

How do you sort bonds by polarity
zzz [600]
Your question isn't quite clear, but if you're wondering if a chemical is polar or non-polar, you simply draw a VSEPR sketch and draw arrows where the bonds are. Only draw arrows between atoms, NOT between an atom and a lone pair of electrons. The arrow should point to the most electronegative atom (you should be given an electronegativity scale). Afterwards, you add up the arrows as vectors, and look at the sum of the vectors. If the sum is zero (CH4 is a good example), the chemical is non-polar. If the sum is a vector, the chemical is polar (H2O, or water, is polar).

An isopropyl solution contains 70 ml of isopropyl alcohol in 1.8 L of water. What is the percent by volume of the alcohol
xenn [34]

Answer:

3.74%

Explanation:

We express a solution's volume by volume percent concentration, % v/v,

Take the ratio of the isopropyl alcohol (IPA) volume to the total volume of the solution, which is 1800 mL of water+ 70 mL of IPA,

and multiply by 100 to get the percentage:   70/(1800+70) *100 = 0.0374*100 =  3.74%

Which will ensure laboratory safety during the experiment? Check all that apply.
gtnhenbr [62]

The following will ensure laboratory safety during an experiment;

1) Using tongs to handle a hot beaker: This prevents direct contact with the hot beaker and avoids burns

5) Turning off the hot plate after use: If the hot plate is left on, it could injure anyone who might touch it accidentally
