Answer: Option (D) is the correct answer.

Explanation:

Metals are the species which have excess of electrons. Metals are placed from left side to more than middle side of the periodic table.

Some properties of metals are as follows.

  • Metals are good conductors of heat and electricity.
  • They are malleable and ductile i.e, they can be drawn into thin sheets and wires.
  • They are lustrous in appearance.
  • Metals generally have high melting point.

Thus, we can conclude that out of the given options, characteristic they are malleable is typical of metals.

Consider a solution containing .100 M fluoride ions and .126M hydrogen fluoride. The concentration of fluoride ions after the ad
S_A_V [24]
Given:

Concentration of Fluoride ions = 0.100 M
Concentration of Hydrogen Fluoride = 0.126 M

Asked: Concentration of fluoride ions after the addition of 5ml of 0.0100 M HCl to 25 mL of the solution

Assume: 50:50 ratio of fluoride ions and HF

12.5ml*0.1mol/L *1L/1000mL + 12.5*0.126mol/L * 1L/1000mL = 2.825x10^-3 moles F-

5ml * 0.01 mol/L *1L/1000mL = 5x10^-5 moles

Assume: Volume additive

Final concentration = 2.825x10^-3 + 5x10^-5 moles/ 30 ml * 1000ml/L =0.0958 M

Answer:

Explanation:

a) The forward reaction is exothermic, hence when temperature is increased the equilibrium shift towards the reactants side to get rid of the excess energy. This will mean that more reactants are produced decreasing yield

b) There are a fewer number of moles of gas on the right side compared to the left side (Just count the coefficients before each compound) so a higher pressure will mean that the equilibrium will shift towards the products side in order to decrease the pressure. This will mean that more products are formed increasing yield

c) When something is powdered it's surface area to volume ratio increases. A higher surface area means that the particles around it have more area to work on so the frequency of collisions will increase increasing the rate of reaction. This is why iron is powdered.
