When an unbalanced force acts on an object, the object accelerates. We can immediately rule out B and D, as friction changes based on the material and by applying a force the net force can’t be zero. It can be easy to say that the object will speed up after the force is applied (and it often does!), but take a braking car, for example. An external force of friction is applied to the brakes, causing an acceleration but in such a fashion that the car slows down. So, although an object can speed up after a force is applied, it isn’t always guaranteed.

Hope this helps!

A dog runs down his driveway with an initial speed of 5.0 m/s for 8 seconds then uniformly increases his speed to 10 m/s in 5 se
KatRina [158]

Answer:

to find the displacement, or delta x (change in position) on a velocity graph, you can find the area under the line on the graph: between 1 and 8 seconds, the dog was going at 5m/s, so 5m/s x 8s=40m, for the second part, you have to find the area of both a triangle and a rectangle, so the rectangle would be 5m/s x 5s=25m and the area under the triangle would be (5m/s x 5s)/2=25m/2=12.5m -you divide by 2 because it's a triangle

-afterwards, you would add the area of the 2 sections together, so 40m+25m+12.5m=77.5m

A 4.55 nF parallel-plate capacitor contains 27.5 μJ of stored energy. By how many volts would you have to increase this potentia
aivan3 [116]

Answer:

\Delta V=V_{2}-V_{1}=45.4V

Explanation:

The energy, E, from a capacitor, with capacitance, C, and voltage V is:

E=\frac{1}{2} CV^{2}

V=\sqrt{2E/C}

If we increase the Voltage, the Energy increase also:

V_{1}=\sqrt{2E_{1}/C}

V_{2}=\sqrt{2E_{2}/C}

The voltage difference:

V_{2}-V_{1}=\sqrt{2E_{2}/C}-\sqrt{2E_{1}/C}

V_{2}-V_{1}=\sqrt{2*55*10^{-6}/4.55*10^{-9}}-\sqrt{2*27.5*10^{-6}/4.55*10{-9}}=45.4V

A car slows down at -5.00 m/s^2 until it comes to a stop after traveling 15.0 m. What was the initial speed of the car?
maria [59]
8.66mls = v1

vf2 = vi2 + a(d)
(0mls) squared = visquared + - 5mls squared (15m)
0mls squared = vi2 - 75m squared / s squared
\sqrt{x} 75 m squared/s squared = vi

Hope this helps!
