When an unbalanced force acts on an object, the object accelerates. We can immediately rule out B and D, as friction changes based on the material and by applying a force the net force can’t be zero. It can be easy to say that the object will speed up after the force is applied (and it often does!), but take a braking car, for example. An external force of friction is applied to the brakes, causing an acceleration but in such a fashion that the car slows down. So, although an object can speed up after a force is applied, it isn’t always guaranteed.

Hope this helps!

What is true about X-rays and microwaves?
erma4kov [3.2K]
I believe the correct answer from the choices listed above is option C. X-rays have greater frequency than microwaves. In a electromagnetic spectrum, the order in increasing frequency is as follows:

radio waves,microwaves, terahertz radiation, infrared radiation, visible light, ultraviolet radiation,X-rays and gamma rays.

Which is the result of using a machine?
Eddi Din [679]
Correct Answers is A.

The machines gives us some mechanical advantage. This means the mechanical average makes the work output greater than the work input
Simple most example is a lever. The force applied is smaller and the output work is larger as compared to input.

Option B cannot be true, as there must be a force to get some work done.
Option C and D are inverse of what a machine is designed for. A small force can be exerted through a large distance to have a large force exerted through a small distance. Common Example of this principle is a screw opener.

A 1400-kg car is traveling with a speed of 17.7 m/s. What is the magnitude of the horizontal net force that is required to bring
AleksandrR [38]

Answer:

The magnitude of the horizontal net force is 13244 N.

Explanation:

Given that,

Mass of car = 1400 kg

Speed = 17.7 m/s

Distance = 33.1 m

We need to calculate the acceleration

Using equation of motion

v^2-u^2=2as

Where, u = initial velocity

v = final velocity

s = distance

Put the value in the equation

0-(17.7)^2=2a\times 33.1

a=\dfrac{-(17.7)^2}{33.1}

a=-9.46\ m/s^2

Negative sign shows the deceleration.

We need to calculate the net force

Using newton's formula

F = ma

F =1400\times(-9.46)

F=-13244\ N

Negative sign shows the force is opposite the direction of the motion.

The magnitude of the force is

|F| =13244\ N

Hence, The magnitude of the horizontal net force is 13244 N.
