When an unbalanced force acts on an object, the object accelerates. We can immediately rule out B and D, as friction changes based on the material and by applying a force the net force can’t be zero. It can be easy to say that the object will speed up after the force is applied (and it often does!), but take a braking car, for example. An external force of friction is applied to the brakes, causing an acceleration but in such a fashion that the car slows down. So, although an object can speed up after a force is applied, it isn’t always guaranteed.

Hope this helps!

Two football players are pushing a 60 kg blocking sled across the field at a constant speed of 2.0 m/s. The coefficient of kinet
MArishka [77]

Answer:

The sled slides d=0.155 meters before rest.

Explanation:

m= 60 kg

V= 2 m/s

μ= 0.3

g= 9.8 m/s²

W= m * g

W= 588 N

Fr= μ* W

Fr= 176.4 N

∑F = m * a

a= (W+Fr)/m

a= 12.74m/s²

t= V/a

t= 0.156 s

d= V*t - a*t²/2

d= 0.155 m

2. In the activities below indicate if friction is useful or not useful? Explain your answer. i. Writing yes it is useful becaus
Gemiola [76]

Answer:

Please find the answer in the explanation

Explanation:

Friction is a force that opposes motion. One or two of the advantages of friction are break and ability of an object to walk.

Writing yes it is useful because when your writing because friction helps you see what your writing

ii. Rubbing. Yes, it is useful.

friction make it possible for two object to rub each other

iii. Skiing. No. It is not useful because With presence of friction, skiing will not be possible.

iv. Rotating a wheel No. It is not useful because Friction will oppose the rotation of the wheel.

As a glacier melts, the volume V of the ice, measured in cubic kilometers, decreases at a rate modeled by the differential equat
DaniilM [7]

Answer:

the volume in terms of time t ⇒ \\V = e^{0.05t} + 399\\

Explanation:

Given that :

\frac{dv}{dt}= kv\\\\\int\limits \, \frac{dv}{v}=  \int\limits \, kdt\\In v = kt + C_1\\v = e^{kt} + C\\400 = e^{k*0} + C\\400 = 1 + C\\C = 400 -1\\C = 399

V = e^{kt} + 399

When v = 300 ;  \frac{dv}{dt}= - 15

then

\frac{dv}{dt}= kv\\\\-15 = 300*k\\\\k = \frac{-15}{300}\\\\\\k = \frac{-1}{20}\\\\k = -0.05

∴ \\V = e^{0.05t} + 399\\

Therefore, the volume in terms of time t ⇒ \\V = e^{0.05t} + 399\\

8. An object accelerates 12.0 m/s2 when a force of 6.0 newtons is applied to it. What is the mass of the object? _______________
Sholpan [36]

Answer:

Mass of object is 0.5kg

Explanation:

Given the following data;

Force = 6N

Acceleration = 12m/s²

Mass =?

Force is given by the multiplication of mass and acceleration.

Mathematically, Force is;

F = ma

Where;

F represents force.

m represents the mass of an object.

a represents acceleration.

Making mass (m) the subject, we have;

Mass (m) = \frac{F}{a}

Substituting into the equation;

Mass (m) = \frac{6}{12}

Mass, m = 0.5kg.

Therefore, the mass of the object is 0.5kg

What are the similarities and differences between novae and supernovae?
DochEvi [55]

Answer:

Explanation:

A novae in astronomy means an explosion in the white dwarf star which had tapped enough gas from a companion star,hence it releases an incredible amount of energy which is Over a million times brighter than it normal stars.

A super novae on the other hand is a cosmic explosion that can be a billion times brighter than the normal.

From this one can see that a perculiar similarity between a novae and super novae is that both generate huge explosion and bright Ness, and a major difference is super novae release huge amount of brightness and energy more than the novae
