I have not taken Chemistry in a year but I remember that if you look at a periodic table there are certain sections for polar and non polar elements. I dont know if you have learned that yet

If you're studying electronegativity, somewhere in your textbook or lectures they probably will have shown you a periodic table with electronegativities on it. Find the difference between the two electronegativities of the elements in each bond and order them. Hope this helps!

In order to reduce the exposure to organic solvents like turpentine, some art instructors recommend the students clean brushes a
kykrilka [37]
Generally speaking, organic molecules tend to dissolve in solvents that have similar physical properties. A good rule of thumb is that "like dissolves like". Meaning, polar compounds can dissolve polar compounds and nonpolar compounds can dissolve nonpolar compounds.

To apply this to the current problem, we are told that the brushes are being cleaned with vegetable oil or mineral oil. In this case, the oils are used as solvents. In order for these solvents to be effective, the compounds they are trying to dissolve must be similar in structure and properties to other oils. Therefore, vegetable oil or mineral oil will be most effective in removing oil-based paints, as these will have the similar properties needed to dissolve in the oil solvents.

Water flows over Niagara Falss at the average rate of 2,400,000 kg/s, and the average height of the falls is about 50 m. Knowing
liberstina [14]

Answer:

1. 176 × 10^12 W ; 78400000000

Explanation:

Given the following :

Fall rate = 2,400,000kg/s

Average height of fall = 50m

Gravitational Potential of falling water = mgh = mass × acceleration due to gravity × height =

How many 15 W LED light bulbs could it power?

Recall : power = workdone / time

Workdone = gravitational potential energy

Mass of water = density * volume

Density of water = 1 * 10^3kg/m^3

Rate of fow = volume / time = 2400000

Hence,

Power = 1000 * 2,400,000 * 9.8 * 50

Power = 1176000000000

Power = 1. 176 × 10^12 W

How many 15 W LED light bulbs could it power?

1176000000000 / 15 = 78400000000

= 78400000000 15 W bulbs

The activation energy for a reaction is changed from 184 kJ/mol to 59.0 kJ/mol at 600. K by the introduction of a catalyst. If t
11111nata11111 [884]

Answer:

The catalyzed reaction will take 2.85 seconds to occur.

Explanation:

The activation energy of a reaction is given by:

k = Ae^{-\frac{E_{a}}{RT}}

For the reaction without catalyst we have:

k_{1} = Ae^{-\frac{E_{a_{1}}}{RT}}   (1)

And for the reaction with the catalyst:

k_{2} = Ae^{-\frac{E_{a_{2}}}{RT}}   (2)

Assuming that frequency factor (A) and the temperature (T) are constant, by dividing equation (1) with equation (2) we have:

\frac{k_{1}}{k_{2}} = \frac{Ae^{-\frac{E_{a_{1}}}{RT}}}{Ae^{-\frac{E_{a_{2}}}{RT}}}

\frac{k_{1}}{k_{2}} = e^{\frac{E_{a_{2}} - E_{a_{1}}}{RT}

\frac{k_{1}}{k_{2}} = e^{\frac{59.0 \cdot 10^{3}J/mol - 184 \cdot 10^{3} J/mol}{8.314 J/Kmol*600 K} = 1.31 \cdot 10^{-11}

Since the reaction rate is related to the time as follow:

k = \frac{\Delta [R]}{t}

And assuming that the initial concentrations ([R]) are the same, we have:

\frac{k_{1}}{k_{2}} = \frac{\Delta [R]/t_{1}}{\Delta [R]/t_{2}}

\frac{k_{1}}{k_{2}} = \frac{t_{2}}{t_{1}}

t_{2} = t_{1}\frac{k_{1}}{k_{2}} = 6900 y*1.31 \cdot 10^{-11} = 9.04 \cdot 10^{-8} y*\frac{365 d}{1 y}*\frac{24 h}{1 d}*\frac{3600 s}{1 h} = 2.85 s

Therefore, the catalyzed reaction will take 2.85 seconds to occur.

I hope it helps you!
