The two nuclei are Krypton-89 and Barium- 144

Explanation:

The splitting nuclei is a Uranium-235:

          U:

            mass number = 235

            atomic number = 92

We can write the atom as ²³⁵₉₂U

From the key, a neutron particle collides with the Uranium nuclei. The neutron  is represented as:

                          ¹₀n

Writing the expression  on the left hand side:

                     ²³⁵₉₂U +  ¹₀n

In a fission reaction, a heavy nucleus disintegrates into 2 lighter nuclei and several neutrons with the release of a large amount of energy.

NOTE: In every nuclear reaction, the mass number and atomic number is always conserved.

Problem: To find the unknown nuclei on the right hand side;

        Known:

            3 neutrons;

                   ²³⁵₉₂U +  ¹₀n → 3 ¹₀n + unknown nuclei

To balance the product side,

   mass number = (235+1) - (3x1) = 233

      Atomic number = 92 -3 = 89

from the options given, Krypton and plutonium will fit this:

  Given information of Kr:

           atomic number = 36

           neutron number = 53

Mass number = atomic number + neutron number = 89

 Given information of Ba:

            atomic number =  56

            neutron number =  88

            mass number =    56+88 = 144

        Complete equation:

                  ²³⁵₉₂U +  ¹₀n → 3 ¹₀n + ¹⁴⁴₅₆Ba + ⁸⁹₃₆Kr

An adiabatic closed system is accelerated from 0 m/s to 30 m/s. Determine the specific energy change of this system, in kJ/kg.
snow_tiger [21]

Answer:

Explanation:

initial velocity, u = 0 m/s

final velocity, v = 30 m/s

Let the mass is m .

Initial kinetic energy, Ki = 1/2 mu² = 0

Final kinetic energy, Kf = 1/2 mv² = 0.5 m x 30 x 30 = 450 m

Specific energy change = change in kinetic energy per unit mass

                                         = 450 m / m = 450 J/kg = 0.45 kJ/kg
