1. the amount of heat that it would take would be :
5.1 x 10^4 J

2. I think the substance would be : Iron

3. the amount of heat required would be :
1.13 x 10^4 kJ

Hope this helps

(1) Enthalpy of fusion is given as 2.04*10^4\frac{J}{kg} . It means 2.04*10^4 J of heat is required to melt 1 kg of lead. We are asked to calculate the heat required to melt 2.5 kg of lead.

q=m\Delta H_f

where m is the mass and \Delta H_f is the enthalpy of fusion.

let's plug in the values in the formula:

q=2.5kg*2.04*10^4\frac{J}{kg}

q=5.1*10^4J

(2) From given heat energy and mass we can calculate the enthalpy of fusion and then match it with the values given in the table and see which metal is it.

\Delta H_f=\frac{q}{m}

\Delta H_f=\frac{2.52*10^5J}{4.00kg}

\Delta H_f=6.3*10^4\frac{J}{kg}

Looking at the standard table, the substance is Gold as it has same enthalpy of fusion value that we have calculated.

(3) Heat of vaporization is used when the liquid changes into vapor. Heat of condensation is used when the vapor changes into liquid and the heat of solidification is used when the liquid freezes.

In question it asks, what would be used to calculate the heat released when a liquid freezes. So, the right option is "Heat of solidification."

(4) This is exactly Similar to the first one, the only difference is, here we will use the enthalpy of vaporization.

q=m\Delta H_v

q=0.200kg*2.26*10^3\frac{kJ}{kg}

q=4.52*10^2kJ

First option is correct.

Which element has 32 protons in its nucleus? phosphorus cobalt germanium sulfur
vovangra [49]

Answer:

Germanium.

Explanation:

In a neutral atom: the number of protons = the number of electrons.

Atomic number of a neutral atom = number of electrons = number of protons.

  • Phosphorous is an element with atomic number 15 and thus contains 15 electrons and 15 protons.

  • Cobalt is an element with atomic number 27 and thus contains 27 electrons and 27 protons.

  • <em>Germanium is an element with atomic number 32 and thus contains 32 electrons and 32 protons.</em>

<em></em>

  • Sulfur is an element with atomic number 16 and thus contains 16 electrons and 16 protons.

calculate the standard potential arising from the reaction in which NADH is oxidized to NAD and the corresponding biological sta
melisa1 [442]

Answer:

-219.99kJ

Explanation:

The acronym '' NADH'' simply stands for what is known as coenzyme 1 with full meaning of Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide Hydride. This substance is useful in the production of energy. The oxidation reaction of NADH causes it to produce NADP⁺ and the oxygen produces water when it is in the reduction process. The balanced equation for the oxidation reaction is given below as:

NADPH ---------------------------------------------------------------------> NADP⁺H⁺ + 2e⁻.

Also, the balanced equation for the reduction reaction is given below as:

\frac{1}{2} O₂ + 2H⁺ + 2e⁻ --------------------------------------------------------------> H₂O.

It can be shown from the above REDOX reaction that the total number of electrons getting transferred is 2.

The  Gibbs energy = -nFE. where n = 2, F = faraday's constant = 96485.3329 C and E = overall cell potential.

The overall cell potential = E[ reduction reaction] - E[oxidation reaction] = 0.82 - (- 0.32 ) = 1.14 V.

Hence, the Gibbs energy = - 2 × 96485.3329 × 1.14 = -219.99kJ
