A silver ring reacts with compounds containing sulfur in the air to form silver sulfide, a black substance that makes up the tar

nish on the surface of silver objects. To remove that tarnish from the ring, students placed it in a pan lined with aluminum foil and added hot water. Baking soda was added to the hot water and stirred. Students made observations about the process. Which observation of this process provides evidence of a chemical reaction? *
A- Hot water heated the aluminum foil
B- The liquid solution changed color
C- The pan was lined with aluminum foil
D- The hot water cooled

The electrons in an atom's outermost energy level are called: Electron dots. Quantum electrons. Valence electrons. Noble-gas ele
Flauer [41]

The valence electrons are located in an atom's outermost energy level

Further explanation

In an atom, there are levels of energy in the shell and subshell

This energy level is expressed in the form of electron configurations.

Electrons fill the orbitals based on the Aufbau principle, namely the filling of electrons starts from the lowest energy level

 • Electron dots

Usually used in describing Lewis structures, placed around the element

 • Quantum electrons

Each orbital in an atom consists of 4 quantum numbers : n, l, ml, ms

Each electron has a different quantum number and this conforms to Pauli's rule: no electrons have the same 4 quantum numbers

 • Valence electrons

Valence electrons are electrons used in a chemical bond , and in an atom's outermost energy level

 • Noble-gas electrons

Noble gas has a stable electron configuration of 8 valence electrons which guides the formation of chemical bonds called the octet rule

An exothermic reaction occurs spontaneously ,why?
Delvig [45]

Answer:

See below

Step-by-step explanation:

An exothermic reaction tends to occur spontaneously because the products are more stable than the reactants.

Nature tries to get to the lowest energy state.

When determining the melting point of a substance, should one use a large or a small sample in the capillary? Should the sample
REY [17]

The glass capillary having one end closed and one open end is generally used for the determination of melting point of the sample. From the open end, the sample is put into the capillary, the sample must be firmly packed as the melting point is an intrinsic property that means it is independent of sample size. So, in order to determine the melting point of the sample small sample in the capillary is sufficient to measure the melting point of the sample. To obtain the more consistent value of melting point one must pack the sample firmly in the capillary.

Hence, when determining the melting point of a substance, one should use a small sample in the capillary and the sample should be firmly packed.
